Thanks for all of your replies. I contacted the OP center and spoke to a wonderfull agent by the name of Holly. She credited the leg without any hassles. I am quite pleased. This reaffirms my belief that Continental is the best airline out there bar none. The should commend and appreciate agents like Holly.
