NW versus CO First Class
I have only been on first class on CO and it is pretty plush. NW first looks ok, but I noticed they have no movies, and I wondered if the food was up to par. CO is really nice, but on the other hand NW is easier to EUA or so I have heard. What do people who fly both on a regular basis think?
Would you prefer a chance at EUA on CO or a definate Z class on NWA?

With that said are you saying that CO coach and NWA Z class is the same price? If so, take the confirmed Z and be done with it.
If I were chancing EUA on either, that'd be a different story.

I will take F from either over Y anyday. Give me a few drinks (non alcohol and alcohol) and I am happy. I generally try to eat before I fly. The sundaes on CO are good!

If CO platinums ever started getting 100% upgrades I would make the switch over if all I was doing was cross country.
I was on CO metal this week from IND to MAF. I was able to go F on the first leg to HOU, then had the flight on the Express Jet tin can to MAF. The worst part was on the trip home, both legs were on Express Jet. I would fly Southwest before I did that gig again! $800.00 to go to MAF in a tin can????

BF is so much better than WBC. And please keep in mind NW has the older seat (DC-10) and the newer seat (330) (as does CO). I choose CO 100% of the time when possible. CO has better food, service and entertainment. The BF seat on the 777 is my seat of choice. I can't understand why anyone would want to fly NW domestic or international. Then entire CO experice is far superior. From checkin to arrivals. Once you fly BF you'll be spoiled. The only thing that comes close to topping BF is true interantional FC on SQ or UA. Personally BF is preferred way to travel. I have $700 in travel credits with NW and I dont even want to use them!

NW is retrofitting their seats in WBC and from what I understand they are 70% complete. The 747-400's with the new WBC seats are the best in the industry hands down. They will recline to an almost flat 176 degree recline and fancy electronic extras. I only have experience going to BKK and NRT so it might be different in other markets.
A great site to compare seats is www.seatguru.com and my favorite is www.nwa.com/services/bustrav/wbc/
Happy Travels!
Again, I would love to have your travel credits, shoot me an e-mail, lets talk.

No question long haul CO is the best. However, NW first is fine for a great deal of travel. If you trip is a two legs under two and half hours each I think NW is great because you are likely to get updgraded on all and likely to have at least a Dc-9 which has a FC cabin not an RJ.
Yeah, the food is not as good but I find the service to be generally fine if not excellent. Like CO its the crew that is the biggest factor here. Both have many great flight crews and some not-so-great.
Upgrades are easier to get since all planes ( Ithink) have at least 16 seats. CO has 737-500's that only have 10...

There is no question that domestically CO F beats out NW F. There is no comparison on food quality and seat quality.
But, as CO Platinum I can report 100% EUAs on NW this year (over 80 segments on NW) and only about 75% on CO (non-JungleJets). Nearly all my NW upgrades clear at the 5-day window; on CO many do not clear until 4hrs before departure.
I can put up with NW F anyday versus staring at the back of CO's F seats.
Internationally, CO's BF is hands-down better than NW's WBC. The only advantage of WBC is on-demand video on the 330s and 747s. Food, service and seats in BF are far and away better than WBC.
So, if you're paying --- go CO. But if you're looking for an EUA --- NW wins.

CO wins Domestically
I've never flown NW internationally... but have flown both CO and NW domestically in F. Hands-down, CO wins --the service, food, and seat are all superior on CO compared to NW.

I was on a NW D93 from DTW to MDW last month, and the F seats were cloth, with thinly padded headrests - you could feel the metal seat frame hitting your head - far inferior to any F seat I've ever experienced on CO.
Also, when the FA came down the aisle with a cart (?)offering beverages, I aksed for coffee, and was told that, due to the short duration of the flight, they didn't make any, so could I pick something else! This was a 55 minute flight - even SW offers coffee on shorter flights - and in coach! Not impressed with NW F at all

Its not so much about being "on demand" as much as "selection".... Movies, Sopranos, news, ect....
