As it gets closer to midnight I find my myself checking this forum more often so I can keep seeing the name Continental. Now I'm sorry I threw out so many years of old Continental Elite cards thinking I'd never miss them. At least I have the last two. Seeing the old Continental logo on United planes makes the transistion easier and the fact that pretty much everyone here will still (hopefully) be posting on the United forum makes it a lot easier too. Should old timers have a secret handshake or nod at airports?

I crossed over to CO when then NW discontinued their non-stop service between HNL and GUM. Since that time (1995) and some one million miles later, I have had nothing but pleasant experiences - especially from my Continental Micronesia friends and the HNL Presidents Club Team. It is for this reason that my loyalty will remain with the new UA to support the good work that has been demonstrated in the Pacific. Thank you CO.

Just came off from my final Continental flight (EWR to SFO) tonight! Good bye CO!

Continental was an icon. I have missed it since my first United flight to Guam. A great product that is now lost.

Interesting to read the opinions on UA's forum. While I respect their experiences, it's interesting to contrast United fans recounting memories from many years ago... vs Continental fliers who had a great experience yesterday.

Houston will always be proud of Continental. I hope the spirit will live on.

I will always have fond memories of many wonderful CO BF trips to a number Capitol cities in Asia & Europe for 598,000+ miles, since retiring.

I flew continental only once. Last minute to Israel from Chicago to see my dying grandmother a week before July 4th 2005.

I was impressed with the service on EWR-TLV. No other foreign airline at that time had Israeli flight attendants. Flight announcements in hebrew. Moving map in hebrew. It was also funny as on that flight there were more elites preboarding than passengers without status. (Probably the only flight in EWR, or I was one of the only suckers who did not cut into the wrong line)

Continental set the standard that other american carriers followed (Delta and US Airways) which started service to Tel-Aviv later.

Also when my grandma died a day before my deaparture back. Continetal person in Tel-Aviv call center did go above and beyond in understanding and allowing me to find me a sit on an overbooked flight later that week, so I could attend my grandma's funeral. They waived all the change fees.

Wonderful service by a wonderful airline. Sorry I did not fly this airline more often. Hopefully the new United will follow their step and do not downgrade the experience and customer service

I was enrolled in the FFP when I was a few months old.


CO was a great airline, it's a shame to see it go.

No matter how far away from home you were, the moment you stepped on that plane you felt like you were home.
It was a great company.

My last flight Friday afternoon..Will miss CO just hope UA fills in as the same.

I'm happy to say that I can lay claim to a rather enjoyable feat: I was the last passenger to ever board a Continental flight.

One of my first flight memories was PE JAX-EWR, a route that I've flown many times since along with many others. I've got somewhere around 350 segments on CO and they certainly weren't all fantastic but on the balance the experience has been. I've got many fond memories, certainly enough to bore just about everyone into submission if I tried to tell all of them. Suffice it to say that I recognize the end of an era, but I do so with eyes wide open and hope for continued greatness into the future.

I almost didn't make the trip out to PHX for a variety of reasons. In the end, I could not be more happy that I did. I got to meet a whole bunch of agents along the way, all of whom were a bit apprehensive and a bit sad, but who were also, to a person, all excited about the future and the opportunities the company has to do things better and to do things right going forward. Plus, I got to give them all chocolates and brighten up their day a bit. And, in the end, the crew working the last flight insisted that I got to be the last passenger to board a Continental flight. We had a great time (I really need to get at those photos from my camera and phone) and I got to help close out an era.

On to the next big thing!!
