If you purchase now the Elite Maximizer EQMs would be for 2011 even if the flight is in 2012. So if you don't need them for 2011, definitively wait til 2012.
So in theory I could buy a few Y-class trips EWR-HKG now for April 2012, get elite maximizer EQMs for 2011 at 11c, then cancel and refund my trips in March 2012 and still be elite in 2012? I understand it is an expensive way to do so but it saves the time and pain of the mileage runs. It could be interesting if I had just a few thousand miles missing. On the other hand if I wanted to start 2012 with a few more EQMs that I do not need in 2011 I could not buy the maximizer until Jan 2012, right? |
SWU Progress Bar and EQM Maximizer
Just purchased EQMs, which put me across the Platinum threshold. My CO profile now shows a "System-wide Upgrade Progress" Bar, and it's below 50%. Does this mean that purchased EQMs count towards 1K status, but not SWUs? Sorry if this was posted elsewhere, I couldn't find anything.

The price will hopefully come back to the old price, but of course since OnePass is going away (so they tell us) on Jan 1, this buy EQM may be gone as well, since UA only offers RDMs.

You can get SWUs once you reach Premier Platinum, or 1K on UA by having 100K EQMs. EmailKid |
[QUOTE=EmailKid;
You say Platinum. Plat does not get you SWUs, only CR1s. Those should post sooner or later, as long as you have merged (or whatever the term is) your two accounts. You can get SWUs once you reach Premier Platinum, or 1K on UA by having 100K EQMs. [/QUOTE] I understand the threshold needed for 1k status (which comes with SWUs). On the CO site, I have 82k+ EQMs currently (I've purchased maximizer EQMs a few times this year). There is now a SWU progress bar in place of what used to be a elite level progress bar, and it shows about 30% progress toward SWUs. If all EQMs count as progress toward SWUs, then my progress should show about 80%, no? |

The bar shows your progress from 75K to 100K,so the 30% is about right.

Buying CO EQM
Got a quote for .11/mile today...going back up?

I've had the pleasure of being 1K, but this year I'm going to fall short of 1K by about 20K miles :(
At 0.11/mi, that'd be $2200 if using only Elite Maximizer to get there. I usually travel overseas several times a year, so the SWUs are worthwhile if they can actually be used (which is questionable given the program changes next year). Just curious to see what value others place on 1K for 2012 :) P.S. My first post, but long time reader. |

In no way worth $2200. Three t-cons SFO-BOS are $700 or so now A/I. That is a better use of the money to get to 1K.

If there are two passengers on one record locator, can one traveler buy the maximizer for himself and then the other one go into the reservation and still be able to separately pay for his own maximizer?
|
yes, you can buy elite maximizer EQMs or RDMs for any single passenger on a PNR or buy for the entire group, or 2X for one, 3X for another, or any combination thereof.
Also, I am seeing the current rate of 13cpm including elite maximizer as of today. |

In your situation - If reaching 1k is worth: * 6 SWU's * 2 more CR1's * 25% more rdu's in 2012 * Higher priority on the UDU list in 2012 I would take some weekend transcons flights as aacharya suggested, as this is the most inexpensive way to get to 1k.
