can you cancel a reservation online within 24hours at no penalty?

it is award ticket
I found that int he reservation
there is a "cancel" option

does that work?
if in 24 hours, then no penalty?

I have done it plenty of times (wife keeps on changing her mind...) and have had no issue canceling online. But as a Plat, I can cancel anytime (even at the last minute) w/o any penalty. But non plats, you still have 24 hr grace period - I used to have a while back.

the weird thing is that even withn 24 hours, in the online reservation
I still see
Redeposit Fee* $150.00

This happened to me also. I was charged a redeposit fee. I called up and was told there was a "glitch in the system" and that the amount charged would be refunded. It took a couple days but indeed it was. But yes, I agree, having to call is certainly a pain when non-elite.

Ok,I'm a bit confused. I've read a couple of different things here. If I just cancelled an award reservation online, will the miles and taxes automatically be refunded? Or, since I didn't hit the refund button, just cancel, do I need to call and get the cancelled ticket refunded? I guess I'm asking, do cancel and refund still mean different things at CO.com?

How long does it take to get the miles redeposited back into my account?
