2011 flight slowdown
I'm not sure how many of you have also been hearing about the slowdown CO pilots are planning to take come Jan 1, but apparently this is going to be their little ploy in anger against the new routes out of CLE/IAH/EWR on the E70/CR7. We've already seen the havoc this caused at UA years ago when their pilots were doing this, and I can only imagine how much this is going to hurt the new company as it moves forward to create a smooth integration.
If CO pilots are doing this, are we going to see UA mainline pilots doing the same as union members tend to always back other union members and their fight for ...........whatever?

b/c you often see union members backing other union members simply b/c they are union members. The most recent CO shareholder meeting, you started seeing CO ramp agents standing and making comments like "we join our new friends at the pilots union" on topics that had nothing to do with the agents.

Fortunately for CAL ALPA and UA, and passengers, 50 seat RJ's are going to decline in prominence in the network, replaced by less frequency, but higher gauge, including mainline.

It's probably a good thing that I am non-union because I think that any work rule violation is a job for The Union to deal with. If I was paying dues to another company (The Union) to represent me and my concerns, I would expect this company (The Union) that I pay to fight tooth and nail for me.
Is ALPA doing anything about this issue? Or is it just more
or business as usual?

Oh boy...here comes the US/AW mess again!
Wonder what the billboard on I78/GSP will say??? (Anyone remember the US pilot/union funded billboard on I95??)
Maybe the FA's can join in the protest and stop giving out linens/warm nuts...oh wait..that is already in place!

Now if a pilot decides to wait two hours to repair a maintenance item for a non-critical light at a remote outstation, that's not officially a work rule violation now is it?

Not sure if you were around during UA's Summer from Hell, but I'm thinking that stuff they're "allowed" to do (e.g., if they're allowed to refuse overtime, declare a plane unfit for a broken lav, etc.), that's what they're thinking about doing.
