Bottles on board?

Flying from TLV - Newark.

Is there secondary screening at gate?

Can I bring wine purchased in TLV DUTY Free?

There is secondary screening at the Gate BUT...ALL Duty Free Purchases are allowed onboard ONLY if the Duty Free is in a sealed bag with the receipt in it.

Anything bought post security (within reasonable cabin baggage limitations) can be brought on board. Purchases obtained at the James Richardson Duty Free concession at TLV are not not sealed, nor are they required to be. Israel is more renowned for its red wines, but periodically they carry the Domaine du Castel whites, which are superb.

I had my TA check with Continental.

NO bottles are allowed on board.
Now the question is: do they check at the gate???

While their catalogue does not appear to be download-able, their website does indeed indicate that liquor is sold as part of the on board sales program.

Restrictions apply if you are connecting to a domestic flight due to the restriction of gels and liquids.

They ask if you have any liquids, and do check carry ons, though not all.

Yes. I don't recall any wines, though they have a selection of hard liquors. As ACYYZ/SD stated, on arrival to EWR and you're connecting to a domestic flight, you would need to put the purchased liquor in your checked bag.

Getting off in EWR so transit is no problem.

I don't fly CO very often and flying to Europe is no problem with liquids if you and not transiting.

Thanks for the help to all.

As far as I can remember TLV doesn't even have the liquid rule, Ive flown out 5 times in the past year and they never once asked me if there was any liquid in my bags. I Didn't take out my toothpaste, deodorant etc. And they have never bothered me about it. I've also bought in the duty free there and brought it onto my continental flight.

I know that TLV does not have the liquid rule. The question really was secondary checking at the gate. Thanks for your info I hope they are not checking the day I go through.

Mexico (MEX and TLC) has secondary security at the gate. Ironically, while Mexico security will not allow my miniature bottles (especially handy for long tarmac delays when CO refuses to serve alcohol!) to clear security they have never questioned my duty free purchases which have been as large as a 3 litre bottle of Johnny Walker Black (wish they made the Blue that size, but then again, I probably couldnt afford it!).

In my experience, duty free purchases are delivered on the plane or for pickup by the passenger at the cabin door, so you shouldnt have any problem.

Why a 1 1/2 oz miniature bottle of booze isn't allowed but multiple 750ml, 1 liter, 1.75 liter, or larger bottles are is beyond me.

go figure that while US based carriers/security don't mind pax bringing liquor aboard, Mexico has a problem with bringing liquor aboard flights heading for the US. its just those type of things that make me drink........
