It sure is. Going up Sugar Loaf, you stop at every corner to take pictures, thinking "wow this is the spot" and after every corner the views just get better and better.

It is also an excellent place to watch the planes land at Santos Dumond, even though they are mostly TAM birds.

I took these with a 10x optical zoom, but watching them feels like they are flying right at you before the final turn and approach to the airport.
