Need Help In IAH > A South To E
Looking at co.com and IAH terminal maps..... how on earth is one supposed to get from A South to E without leaving the secure area? It looks like 2 buses and a terminal link ride are required. Is there an easier way? Can I walk from A South to A North and thus elimnate one bus ride?
Thanks in advance, I don't make it to IAH that often.

C and E are connected. I believe there is a shuttle bus from A to C that you can use so you do not need to leave the sterile area, so take it to C and then walk to your gate in E. The other option in the inter-terminal train. It will take you from A to E, however you will need to go back through security if you take it. They are extending the "terminal-link" above ground train to terminal A - but I don't think it is finished yet.

Yes, indeed. The E stop is also the D stop and I should have mentioned this.
Thanks.
And there is also another way to get from Term A to Term E: The original below ground people mover system (down in the basement, so to speak). Of course, using this system means one will have to clear TSA security in E (or B, C or D for that matter). This system also stops at the airport hotel. It's interesting to note this below ground system is not depicted in the Continental magazine map of IAH.
Thanks.

The bus now stops at both sides on the A terminal.

It's more "mickey mouse" than you may think: It was purchased from Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI). It's the same system used for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority at the Magic Kingdom in Florida. It's one of a handful of projects that WDI has done under contract outside of the Disney theme parks (another being the remodeling of the iconic "theme building" at LAX).
I find that hard to believe. The underground tunnel (both the pedestrian walkway and the adjacent train) is almost a mile from A to E. Even though it's slow by train standards and makes stops, it still moves much faster than walking pace. Unless you got a long head start or there was a stoppage, I don't see how you could keep up with the train on foot for a mile.
I walked it last year and was only about 20 steps behind it at E when I started in A.

IIRC, aren't the IAH A gates in Louisiana?
Can we get EQMs for transfering from IAH A to IAH E?

Yea, this thread is outdated and could confuse someone coming here looking for info
Forget the comments about the Mickey Mouse train for connections. It's landside so you don't want to us it for connections.
Ignore the previous posts about an "inter terminal shuttle" as all gates can now be reached without re-clearing security.
There is a modern people mover airside (within the secured area). It's been around for years but only recently been extended to Terminal A. This means it now stops at all terminals.
Terminal A airside used to be split between north/south. It's still split, but a connector walkway has been built so you can get from the south to the north (where the train is) without going thru security again.
Terminal B is like a central building with 4 spokes out to the concourses. It's easy to lose bearings in there. You can walk freely between each of the concourses.
Terminal C has a north & south concourse, though I don't think they're labeled as such. Just follow the signs to you specific gate. IIRC, C-29 and higher is "C-South". Again, no problems walking between north and south.
Terminals D and E are the same complex. D being the 'north' and E the 'south'. You can walk freely between the 2.
Also note terminal E is connected to C-South and D is connected to C-North.
So those 4 form a big square walkway with concourse "fingers". Personally, within those 4, I feel it's best to walk.
The only downside to the (newer) train is that it runs towards the north side of each terminal complex whereas CO operations tend to favor the south side (Terminal A is the exception where CO favors the north).
So it is a little walk to/from the train and C-South or E. I enjoy walking so IMHO it isn't a bad walk, but I can see some folks not liking it.
The train is on top of the terminals. To help find the escalators/elevators, look for flashing blue strobe lights. Walk thru the concourse towards the light, once at the light a turn off the main hallways will lead to the escalators. Study the maps 1st to have an idea where the escalators are and use the blue lights to make sure that you don't miss the turn because of the crowds.

2) "Transfer EQMs" between terms A and E can now be purchased for a very limited time for ToDs on co.com
