check arrival gate -- how
Is there an easy way to check the arrival and departure gates for CO flights (especially IAH)?
I have to decide on a 30 minute vs 4 hour layover on pretty full flights. Long layover is last flight of the day.
If they're nearby, I'm OK with short (all carryon, CO-Gold so I'm seated in front of coach or upgraded)
EWR-IAH-OKC, CO 51/2204
Thanks,
Steve

When are your flights? Gates are generally assigned close to flight time, and can change at any point before the aircraft actually pulls up to the gate if, for example, there is an issue with the plane that was supposed to vacate the assigned gate.

However, I can tell you right away you'll be arriving into C/E and going out of B. So, don't go for a 30 minute connection - especially arriving from EWR - and expect to make your flight.

Arrival gates aren't set in advance - you will be able to check on the day using the Flight Status page on pda.continental.com but this can change frequently.
However, in this case it's worth pointing out that flight 2204 is a Continental Express flight that will operate from Terminal B - I would say that a 30min layover would be far too short to make this connection, since flight 51 will arrive into C or E.

Wait were you saying you are looking at booking CO 51 / CO 2204, or CO 51 on April 22?

Right, which is why I was asking if he was saying CO 2204 would be his 30 minute connection flight, in which he wouldn't have enough time if it were..

In any event, there is no way that I would schedule a 30-minute connection if EWR was involved. That's dicey even if EWR isn't involved.
There is an EWR-OKC nonstop, by the way.

With CO's IRROPS handling, I wouldn't book a 30-minute connection.
I try for 2-hour connections on CO metal.

Thanks to all.
Yes, those are both flight numbers. I should have realized that the express flight was unlikely to be near CO51's gate (that plane usually comes from Brussels to EWR before going to IAH, tho this week that's not going to be the case).
Looks like I'll be in an IAH club for a few hours...
I wonder why it was listed as a valid connection?
By the way, I'm coming home on Friday morning via the non-stop, but the timing for the flight to OKC didn't work out.
Thanks, again.

I'd book the later flight, and SDC onto the tight connection if you land at IAH early enough to make it. If you're in IAH for four hours anyway, it's worth a trip to the departure gate of CO2204 to see if you can make it on, provided you get in on time or ahead of schedule.
At any rate, a connection between D/E and B becomes dicey at about 40 minutes, 35 if you're starting from C. 30 is doable if you really hustle and catch a TerminaLink train right away, but I definitely wouldn't bank on it. 30 minutes mainline-to-mainline is fine, though.

See new thread, Thousand dollar mistake, for details on how it worked out.
