Sitting on 1703 lax-ewr on a 757 w/ lie-flat. Very impressed so far. More comfortable than Virgin Upper Class IMO. CO did a great job with these suites!

If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? I ask only because I found the seat comfortable until I tried to lay it down, which did not work so well because I'm 6'8".

Now I believe seats should be made to be comfortable for the tallest man in the world as well as the shortest man in the world, but I have to ask...at 6'8" is there any aviation seat, lie flat or other that is comfortable?

Cool, thanks for the report. I got my upgrade for Saturday's IAH-EWR 777 flt 60 with the new lie flats. I look forward to trying them out! I'm 6 ft even and will post a write-up.

I'm an absolute pile of a man, so I have girth to go with the height. I can fit width-wise into CO Y (barely) but I will still be encroaching on other's space with my shoulders and arms. While that in and of itself makes it a no go for me in Y, I absolutely cannot get my legs into 31" of pitch. It is a physical impossibility.

Now, for premium cabins, CO domestic F is perfectly comfortable for me. I can't use the tray table in the armrest but other than that' I'm perfectly fine. I tried the new lie flat seat at CO DO IV and it was fine as well, but my feet (size 16) didn't fit into the space with the seat upright; they certainly weren't going there to allow me to lie flat. But that's ok, I'm find with sleeping reclined. Hell, I'm fine with flying in general.

You made me wonder how basketball players travel, especially if they have to fly commercial mainline.

On Topic: Can I assume that 1703 was BusinessFirst since equipped with lie-flat? If not, was it better than BusinessFirst?

Could you possibly take pictures and add them to your write up I have not seen the new seats in the 757 yet

Update- I was a bit giddy when I wrote the initial post. The seat is very comfortable in any mode other than "bed". I'm 6 1 and I don't fit length wise. The VS bed is definitely more confortable.

The bulkheads are definitely the seats to get, with the full-width footwell. In all other seats, the foot space is tight, especially if one is wearing shoes when the seat is fully reclined.

If you are a 'side sleeper' (the traveler for whom the 777 seat was designed so well...), I do think the footwell is adequate, and my frame is hardly petite. With that said, in the future I will absolutely try to pre-assign a bulkhead if possible.

I'm dissapointed to say the least. Less than 18 hours before the flight CO just downgauged my flight from a 777 to a 762. Bah, so much for my lie-flat seats.

I had the flatbed experience on CO 527 IAH-PHX this Wednesday.
(My folks that flew LHR-IAH BF today did not, go figure )

Anyways, the FAs and passengers spent most of the trip experimenting with all the buttons.

Good news is that I didn't try to crush my spine unrolling the bed, like I did the first time I was on Virgin's Upper Class!

Bottom line - I really liked it.

The only tiny downer is wheeling your rollaboards off the plane afterwards, there's a bit of a chicane to navigate....
