Everyone has a bad day, even FAs
That's why I'm armed with the page number from the P&P manual

I don't know what you are talking about Mary2e, us FAs NEVER have a bad day!!
It is very true though that being nice, and even striking up a small conversation in many cases will get the world handed to you on a silver platter (and I don't just mean on a plane). If some people only understood how much farther they would get if they were only nice!

I have done this 3 separate times on IAH-HNL in BF. After meals I would let my buddy come enjoy some time up in BF while I talk with their friend back in Y. Maybe since HNL is a tourist route (some in shorts, flip flop ect.... never seen a suit in BF to HNL on over 8 different flights) and it's not 100% full BF product?

So, according to this, it doesn't even specify a ONE time rule - just that it needs to be discreet and avoid disrupting other people, etc. Therefore, the FA that did not allow the switch was going against the procedure stated here and should have been questioned as such (had you known about this).
Yep, had the old version laying around. This last sentence was dropped. "Numerous
switches would not be appropriate, but once in-flight, discreetly, is
permissible."
But please don't get carried away because FA's can use their judgment if it starts getting "disruptive".

I believe that's changed with our latest revision in July. I distinctly remember the "one" stipulation.

In response to atypical FA, It's almost insane how many people hassle FA, Pilots and Gate agents. These are the people that if anything bad is going to happen you want on your side. I hate to give other this idea but it's work on atbout a 75% success rate with me. I am not a CO or any *alliance elite, though if anyone has a way to make this my Birthday is coming up
, but i have a gate check in ritual. After the gate agent arrives I wait for all the aggravating idiots to go up to the GA and do their thing. Then when the gate agent seems nice and calm I approach and ask some simple but not annoying question, usually I ask to confirm my one pass number is in so I get my credit because I really want to make silver this year, they look and confirm and I thank them. I then sit as close as I can to the GA and just read my book/listen to music/nap and about 75% of the time they call me up close to flight time and upgrade me in some way. I've been given better seating, upgrades to BF and even bumped to an earlier flight or from a connecting to a direct flight. Just being nice gets you so much further (farther)-I can never remember which is grammatically correct. Granted if CO does screw up I do act differently if I have to but always start off nicely. I've found CO employees to be happier than other airlines and don't mind helping out a polite customer. I did once have to be downgraded from my upgraded(free) BF seat once and was given 5000 miles for the hassle.
