I have two Twitter accounts - one for my wedding planning business FetePerfection which btw has gotten the attention of Martha Stewart Weddings and therefore a great and mutually beneficial relationship.
The other for my Introduction to Wedding Planning course for aspiring planners - my name is WeducationWorks but the workshop is Weducation Workshops.
I gain attention and attendees from followers. Twitter works for me on both counts.

I should probably add that I have a second newer Twitter account. You can still find my professional account at @OC_Monica (tweeting about topics pertaining to social media, PR, digital marketing, technology, travel, etc) and my new account is @FabOCGirl. That account is linked to my wine blog. I blog about wine and it's also my more uninhibited, chatty, social alter-ego.
