Do I ever.
At least the company was good.
When I arrived home at 2300, all that BA had available was Cairo, with crummy availability.
Did I ever tell you about the time I booked the W Times Sq for $25 bucks.

The reason I mention it, is that I already have plans to meet up with ElmhurstNick there for a quick drink. Would love to see you again, as well.
Sounds good to me. It would be my very great pleasure to see ElmhurstNick once again. The last time was about two years ago in Chicago.

So, what time and date is this set for?

Nick and I are meeting between 6-7 pm, when he has to move on to his next venue. If I know you are on your way from the game(B or D train is a block away), I'd be happy to wait for you, or anyone else interested to meet up.

Okay, so this would be 6 - 7 PM on Monday then. I'll add that to the dance card in post #1.

^ OK. We'll be there with SeeYa and ElmhurstNick and probably some others at 6-615 or if it is a long game, exactly one hour after the Yanks finish with the KCs. While there, we can try to help Starwood Lurker with the balance of his NYC itinerary . Looking forward to seeing some old friends on home turf. ^

Looks like thunderstorms may be in the offing for Monday. Anyone know how that might affect the Yankees/Royals game? My best guess is that it probably depends on how severe/lengthy the storms are, but I wasn't sure if there was a standard policy in place or not.

No standard policy except to leave everything up to the umpires to do everything possible to get the game in. There could be a lengthy delay waiting for the storms to pass but generally they will finish the game unless there is steady ran caused by a weather system moving through..

You may have noticed my earlier post about meeting one hour after the end of the game should it go late That was made with such things as thunderstorms (and the Yankee bullpen ) in mind.

Thanks. Now it appears the forecast is calling for sunny skies on Monday, so I guess all we have to worry about now is the Yankee bullpen.

William,

Hope you arrived safely. We had a bout of bad weather from 4:00pm (1600) on. We'll be happy to listen to your war story.

As for Friday at Veselka. I'm departing the Tarrytown property around 10:30 - 10:45. If anyone needs a ride, now's the time to speak up.

Shameless plug/link below. Seats still available.

LOL. Well, the good part is that I'm typing this from the FP Manhattan Chelsea. The bad part is that I should have typed it three hours ago.

Everything was fine out of Dallas, but about an hour outside NYC, the pilot starting getting kinda squirrely on us. First, it was "we may have to sit in a holding pattern for 15 -20 minutes", then it was "we may have to land in Philly and take on more gas", then it was "okay, we're good to go, which is a good thing because if we had diverted to Philly, we were all going to have to stay the night because we've been flying all day and are no longer legal." Even then, we rolled up 30 yards short of the ramp because of lightening and had to wait another 40 minutes on the tarmack.

So, all told, I was running an hour longer than anticipated from the flight standpoint. Then after the hike from the gate to baggage claim, throw in another 20 minutes. Then the bags did not come off the carousel for another hour. Then, since everyone was backed up, waiting for a cab took another 40 minutes. Fortunately, the cab driver knew where the Four Points was, but we ran into traffic and he took a longer route than he planned. I finally checked in at 1:15 AM, had a double Makers Mark at the bar, and here I am. Hopefully, flycotoseetheyanks is a late sleeper.

Best regards,

William

Just one of the vagaries of traveling by air on a summer Sunday afternoon. We all have had numerous lessons but still occasionally forget. The main thing that keeps me straight on that is that the fares rise substantially as Sunday air travel gets later in the day.

I hope that the Starwood Lurker has a seat in the shade at the Stadium today. It is forecast to be bright and sunny and in the high 90s.

See you all about 6 at Faces & Names.
