I'm actually planning on checking a bag, I have a crazy routing to get to Alaska too:
- AA RDU-ORD-DCA-JFK, CX JFK-YVR (All in First)
- AS YVR-SEA-ANC

So if you want me to bring you some Cheerwine, I think I could arrange that. After all did I mention it was Born in the South, Raised in a Glass?

I have only heard of this fabled beverage. Several of my (umhmmm) friends have imported it to AK but have never felt the need to share it.

Therefore, if you would like to bring some with you, I would appreciate it very much.

I'm still not sure what my schedule is, but right now it looks like I should be around for lunch.

Wow that's a crazy routing! Is it an award? Always wanted to try CX JFK-YVR...

It is indeed! That week is my birthday and I figured I'd treat myself.

So question: I'm debating between the Sheraton and the Hampton Inn. The Sheraton is a better location, though the reviews of it on FT are not so good. The prices are the same, though the Hampton will net me free breakfast and free parking. I have Hilton status (though this means next to nil with Hamptons) and no SPG status. Any thoughts on which you'd go for?

As a local I've done both the Hilton and HGI and find both decent. Hilton can yield some nice upgrades (McKinley Room or Governors Suite sound amazing but can be occupied). HGI is better consistent elite breakfast- however I've had a nice one at Hilton too if you get the hot breakfast comped (coupons said continental but servers said I was welcome to the hot stuff including cooked to order omelet - and they even had Reindeer sausage ) Remember MVP codes- prices do tend to very on time of year...

I'd love to meet up with some people for dinner/drinks/whatever and also get some suggestions on how to best enjoy my time in The Last Frontier.

Ironically, this will be my 49th state. Fitting as Alaska is in fact, the 49th state!
Bump!

You'll be here before you know it...

Ideas- Glacier Brewhouse is always a good stand-by or another one I've come to enjoy is the Eagle River Alehouse (also idine ) but that would be dependent if you have a car or not (and/or weather). Could do something Sat or Sun night- sat should be free after 7 PM.

It WAS a great time, and got you a whole paragraph in my trip report, you crazy shorts wearing man. The Raspberry beer was great too, you just erred by not ordering a big salmon salad like I did.

Indeed my mistake- even the tiny pizzas they had would have been more substantial.

I'm waiting to hear more news about the Dreamliner DEN-NRT inaugural date (rumored to now be May 12) before finalizing my plans for Ozfest. I may tie the two together (redeem an award from NRT to PER if the dates sorta kinda match up).
