Let’s see, items on my “to-do” list during the Mega Do:

• Eat the sample FC meal at the Gate Gourmet tour
• Eat dinner at Buca di Beppo
• Eat at the Farmer’s Market before the ferry ride
• Eat all the delectables during Deck Party at Kalkat’s
• Eat dinner at Lulu’s
• Eat as many of the 60 varieties of dim (deem?) sum at Yank Sing as possible

(There does seem to be a recurring a theme here… :D )

Then I guess I’ll have no choice but to get a COS-seat on my next flight… ;) :D

So, does everyone just want to meet at the Gate Gourmet facilities, or would some be interested in meeting up at the airport first and then taking the shuttle together? If everything goes as planned (how often does that really happen?:p), I'll likely be at the airport by noon or so, so might grab a bite to eat at the food court. I remember last year we met at the international food court before the maintenance center tour, so would anyone be up for a repeat of that this year (just the lunch, not the maintenance tour:D)?

I'm scheduled to arrive from LAX on UA556 at 12:53p. I'll look for the food court on my way to catching the employee bus.

Me and another Flyertalker are on that flight as well. ^

It'll be my first time at SFO... so I'll be the lost looking Brit (with Flyertalk tags obviously!)
I'd better download a map when I get 5, and work out the fastest route from International Arrivals.

Don't need a map - just go upstairs!

So people, I'll start a lotto - time for me to get from Airside and through to the food court.... ;) Prize will be something that I pick up at LHR on the day.....
21 minutes!

Me and +1 will meet y'all at the food court I guess but what's up with eating lunch before heading over to sample FC food on the tour??? :)

I was going to ask if parking at West Field was possible, but since we'll meet you ahead of time we'll just BART in - the BART station at SFO is at International Terminal so with free parking in Millbrae that's just way too convenient (and much cheaper than short term parking).

I don't know if it'll be faster at that point to drive to SF after or to train in, but if we drive we can probably give a couple of people a ride.

Anyone else on UA75 from PDX on 9/26?

Kevincm Sep 8, 2008 5:42 am

Ok .. I'll update the times in a moment... but the prize is actually something flying related!

For those who know, there is a wonderful comedian who sends up the life of being a CSD* (alternative meaning implied) called Pam Ann and I will have a copy of her show on DVD "Come Fly With Me" for the winner!. (I'll attempt to find a US Version of it - it might be the British version which I'm sure some of you can make work in the states ;) )

YouTube links:
At EDI and Beyond: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwxAgoKi4k0
Pam goes to work with BA: http://www.britishairwaysandpamann.com/

So get those times in :D ... all welcome - Prize to be awarded on the Friday Dinner or Saturday Dinner (depending if the winner is at one of those dinners!).

Times (from the time the door opens till I arrive exhausted in the food court - A brisk walk, unless INS hold me...):

21 minutes: asya999
28 minutes: sfogate
32 minutes: Daringdoo
37 minutes: edlin303
39 minutes: skye1
46 minutes: lucky9876coins
66 minutes: goalie
However long INS takes and I'll be happy with it to the land of the discounted: kevincm;) :D

Hello. If you decide to drive and if it is convenient (I'm at the Hyatt on Stockton St), I would like to ask for a ride. I'll pay for the parking. :)

OMG, I love Pam Ann! I'll do everything in my power to make sure that the arrivals process takes forever for you.:p:D

Folks, just wanted to say that while there's still a week to register, I'm getting a bit worried. For Saturday night dinner we need 80 people (or really close to that) to make the minimums, or we might have to make some changes. I know lots of people plan on coming but haven't paid yet, but I'd really appreciate if people could pay sooner rather than later. Wireless and I aren't particularly interested in making up a $1K+ dollar difference at dinner, so please help us out. If you register for Friday dinner and could join us for Saturday, we'd love to have you. You can just register again for Saturday dinner and we'll update your status in the OP. Those that haven't paid yet, I'd really appreciate if you could do so soon.

Thanks!

Put me down for 37 minutes. Are we to assume a brisk walk? Will you be opening doors for elderly, or jumping over them? All very important factors in the contest. ;)

skye1 Sep 8, 2008 6:02 pm

Put me down for 39 minutes. :)

The youtube vid is worth it just for the "Lufthansaaaaaaaa!!!!!" lines :D

Apparently there are two foodcourts at the international terminals. One at the North side and one at the South side.... is it correct to assume we are meeting at the North foodcourt where Fung Lum and Lori's Diner are located?

Lucky, check out Kennedy's as an alternative. North Beach is way more happening than upper Mission and the beer's much better.

wah. looks like Paypal is having some issues right now. If you get the following error:

An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor. Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. () - (28) Operation timed out with 0 out of -1 bytes received

Please come back in a bit and hopefully things will be fixed.

Thanks, and sorry for the hassle. :(

My question exactly as well:)

I'm 99% sure it's north side. Can anyone at the tour last year confirm?
