Could ShopAround be admitted if I promise to bring my own alcohol?:)

Wondering if perhaps we could all volunteer to bring a bottle or 2 of nice wine to share?

I certainly was already planning to do so!

Oh no! One of my major attractions to this DO was the pleasure of seeing Mr. and Mrs. Kalkat again, especially after hearing all about last year's deck party over pizza at the BRT. Didn't realize that if I missed reading FT for one day, it would be sold out.

I have to reconsider my potential attendance if my main reason for coming is no longer an option. :(

Ok everyone, don't get any ideas. I'm grandfathering in (grandmothering in?) ShopAround because of, well, because of her sob story.

And because I will be doing some serious shopping with her, hopefully;) in another place at another time.

Wow. That was fast. Didn't realize that I needed to jump into it so fast.

Since there are many people who have not registered for the main DO yet, and since the deck Do was conceived as an incentive to encourage early reg, in addition to those already confirmed for the deck party I'm making ten more places available.

On Sept 1 there will be a lottery for these additional ten places. Mr. kalkat, the fairest of them all:), will pull the names from the hat.

To get your name in the hat, please officially register with Lucky/Wireless for the DO and pm me that you'd also like to be invited to drink violist's wine. On our deck.

No really, violist, you don't have to bring that $100 bottle stuff we were looking at in NY...

I guess that I will be there.

I just need pay for my flights since I have already registered for the Saturday dinner and am hoping that my name comes up in the ferry draw.

Arriving around 10am Saturday 27th. Departing Sunday ~5pm.

I'll be staying at the Hilton.

Sorry, I assumed.

Gate Gourmet....

Folks, just as an update it looks like the Gate Gourmet tour will be on Friday at around 2PM. We're working on finalizing the details right now and should have registration open within the next day or so. Space will be limited much like kalkat's event, and is only open to registered Do attendees (to ensure people aren't just hogging a spot and trading it on CC:p).

Stay tuned.:)

Excellent news lucky9876coins as I'm due to touch down at SFO at 13:00 local time on UA995/BD4495.

So, my challenge of that day: land, get past immigration and CBP... and be near the Gate Gourmet within an hour.

Silly question for those who know: how long are the immigration queues at SFO normally for non US passport holders?

Ta ;)

Kevincm, while I don't know the answer, I'm hoping someone else will.

I'm still waiting to hear regarding the GG tour, so stay tuned. It might be Monday, although could be sooner.

Speaking of which, I just booked my flights. I booked TPA-IAD-SFO-IAD-TPA for $240, and used $235.01 worth of vouchers, so my out of pocket cost was $4.99. I had to book a 6PM TPA-IAD-SFO flight, but I'll obviously be standing by for an earlier flight, but all of the others were $200+ more. As for the return, I'll be taking the IAD redeye Sunday night, so won't be in any kind of a rush this time.

Looking forward to it!^
