it looks like duke's will be the place for dinner. if anyone REALLY wants the cheesecake factory--or something else--instead, now's the time to speak up. it makes sense to do something hawaiian while in hawaii.
chanp, chef mavros looks fabulous, but might be a bit pricy, ditto alan wong's. that said, i'd be happy to meet some folks there for lunch on monday! anyone interested?
also, since this is a mini-break and time zones won't exactly be working in our favor, i'm inclined to have dinner early, but i don't want to mess with anyone's plans for the day. would 5.30 be too geriatric for a sunday meal? what about 6p?
SoulFlyer, we'd love to have you and your gf. i convinced mr kk to come with me to a do by explaining that i might learn something that would help him sit more comfortably and cheaply on planes in the future. (also, i promised some, ahem, favors.) whatever works.
InsideThePlane, there's not really a do central, but if there was one, it'd be waikiki. i'll be posting where people are staying as they tell me!

I arrive on AA39 at 12 Noon Sat and return 3/3 AA28 at 1:45PM. Staying at the Hyatt. I do have to pick up a friend at HNL after 8:30PM Sat, but Sunday at Dukes would work.
I plan on heading to the north shore for some bodysurfing Sunday, so anyone needing a ride, PM me.

okey dokey, sunday dinner is at duke's at 4.45pm!
just a note that there's no reservations available until 9.30 if we're not there at 4.45...so i figured we'd go for the sunset and those who want to stay up late can do so elsewhere!
(fwiw, i'll keep checking this week for a later time...will keep you guys posted.)
2335 Kalakaua Ave
Honolulu, HI 96815
(808) 922-2268
you can check 'em out online here.
sunset is at 6.36 and i know it gets more crowded closer to sunset...hoping we'll be happily seated and sipping blue hawaiians by then.
if anyone else wants to join us--or if you won't be able to make it after all--just let me know either here in the thread or via pm! ^

and another thing
since not everyone seems to know about it, if you have time, put your flight information for this 'do' and just in general on flyertalk itineraries so other flyertalkers can find you--and you can find them. link here. ^

Well 4:45 it is then. I started entering my flights in the itineraries but managed to make a few newbie mistakes and made double entries for some that I don't see a way to undo. I'm 6229/935/002

yeah, that's the downside, there's no way to undo short of pm-ing a mod and asking them to do it...and they will. (actually, i think you have to pm one of the webflyer guys. you can find posts from them in the support and services forum under help.)

just a note that i've been checking daily with the restaurant, but they still don't have anything available after 4.45 (unless you guys want to shoot for 9.30
) so it looks like we'll get an early start on the evening!
also, the manager i spoke with claimed they wouldn't seat us until everyone was there (or, at least, almost everyone) so if you decide not to come, please let me know! i will be checking emails/pms at least once a day.
mahalo for your kokua!
see you in honolulu

Count me in + 1.
It'll be great to meet FTers for the first time. See you all at Dukes!
Sorry I saw this thread so late but...FYI
There is also another restaurant/bar just above Dukes called Hula Grill. GH has happy hour drinks & pupus. There is space for dinner at 5:30 or 6:45. Let me know if you guys want me to do anything for this.

anyone? i have no preference for location whatsoever. as for times, with a 5.30 reservation (or the 4.45 one) we'll get to see the sunset, so i'd prefer that to 6.45. what would everyone else like?

sjl, if there's not a lot of response in the thread we'll keep it as is to avoid confusion on sunday!

It doesn't appear that I'll be able to make it. But if I'm in the area and you're still there, I'll pop in.

I'm up for either, too. If we're not going to Duke's for dinner, I'll head there for lunch, as it was recommended by a few people I know on the mainland.
