sounds like fun. please add me as probable.
|
Mom's in, too.
So that's DanTravels +4 for NASM. And if I can talk a friend of mine into coming with, it'd be +5... ;)
|
Yikes. Looks like I better try and find a way to make this happen for me.
Edit: OK, I'm in for NASM + Dinner/Drinks. Arrive at DCA 12:18pm Saturday, depart from DCA 12:59pm Sunday. ^ |
Wow!! Just trying to take a quick look at our progress, and look at all of the folks that are joining our Elite group! Welcome all! Good thing we are not planning to first congregate outside the museum - not good for large groups of folks obsessed about airline travel to do such things these days.
I think Hawaii is so far our greatest distanced traveled to do this mini-do winner. Now come on folks, we need some international flare! Who is going to cross the Pond, the Lake, or the Gulf to join us? :D Oh, and just in case you don't remember where the attendee list is being kept, it is post #25: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showp...7&postcount=25 Let me know if I make any mistakes on the list. |

I'm a possible, +1.
My other choice seems to be a visit to WPAFB museum & BBQ in the DAY area. More likely that I'll stay in DC for the weekend, though, so put me as possible. |

NW scoop and I (and anyone else coming from MSP) will be crossing at least one Great Lake. That's got to count for something... ;)

I'd better pay attention when they get to "in the event of a water landing..." :D |
Wait, are you guys connecting in EWR on Sat? If so, we could do a pre-mini-do mini-do, a.k.a. dash from Terminal A to Terminal C and hope to catch our flight. ;)
|
Not me - the 8th is in the middle of a week I'll be on the east coast visiting family, friends and colleagues. Of course, the mini-DO was a factor in my deciding to even make the trip. ;)

Well... I'll be over water for a fair bit of the 216 miles ITO-HNL, basically all of the 2556 or so miles HNL-LAX, LAX-MSP looks like it goes over Lake Mead NV and some wide bits of the Missouri River in SD (Lake Francis Case?), and MSP-EWR should go over at least Lake Michigan and Lake Erie.

If the Atlantic is a pond, then those hardly qualify as lakes. :) But I guess HI to the west coast counts as half a lake...

Please add me as probable for the museum and a maybe for drinks (no dinner as we have a X-Mas party).

Welcome El Boocho, Global_Hi_Flyer, and all!
It's time to start figuring out our meeting place(s) for the evening of Saturday, December 8. Dinner and Drinks site Proposals I've added links to the websites of the proposed sites for dinner and drinks: Possible locations suggested so far: Jaleo (Spanish): http://www.jaleo.com/downtown.htm http://www.opentable.com/rest_profile.aspx?rid=12073 IndeBlue (Contemp. Indian) http://www.bleu.com/indebleu/ http://www.opentable.com/rest_profile.aspx?rid=3733 Cafe Atlantico (Nuevo Latino): http://www.cafeatlantico.com/ http://www.opentable.com/rest_profile.aspx?rid=3212 Tenpenh (SE Asian) http://www.tenpenh.com/about.htm http://www.opentable.com/rest_profile.aspx?rid=2503 Rasika (Indian) http://www.rasikarestaurant.com/ http://www.opentable.com/rest_profile.aspx?rid=5674 Zengo (Mexican) http://www.modernmexican.com/zengodc/menu.dinners.htm Clyde's of Gallery Place (Yankee) http://www.clydes.com/main/Find_Us.c...&submit=Submit http://www.clydes.com/main/MenusList...&submit=Submit Rosa Mexicano in Penn Quarter http://www.rosamexicano.info/servlet/menus/4/dinner My Brother's Place (bar) http://washington.dc.diningguide.com/data/d101793.htm Take some time to look at these, and tell us what your take is on dinner. I've only eaten at Jaleo - loved it! (just remember that a Tapah is served as a small appetizer-like portion). Some of these restaurants are somewhat pricey (especially if you are drinking very much), which I am ok with, but if you want to propose an alternate location for drinks / dinner, please post! |
A possible site for drinks could be "My Brother's Place", a small, inexpensive bar conveniently hidden and tucked into an inconspicuous little corner, right off of the mall.
http://washington.dc.diningguide.com/data/d101793.htm (Btw, if you google map it, it looks like it's right on 395 - however, the freeway is underground, and on the surface you have absolutely no indication that it's there). |
