Excellent - welcome all!
What an Elite group this is shaping up to be! :D

Since I am a sustaining member (or whatever they call it) for some years now of the Smithsonian, maybe they'll arrange a tour just for us (but don't hold your breath, I'm sure I'm not very high in the hierarchy of givers).

Obviously, put me down as definite for both.

Sorry for not following up in this thread, I wasn't monitoring it as closely as the thread in the NW WP forums. Props to GrizShel for picking up the organizational slack.

(And in my defense, I was planning on defining "afternoonish" a bit closer to the date, once more people had expressed interest and stated a preference. But whatever, it's taken care of now )

Count me in.

I'm toying with coming out for this, but it's speculative at best right now.

If I did come out, I can't get out in time on Saturday morning (what airline has their first flight of the day at 10:30AM on a Saturday to their nation's capital?? ;)), so I'd have to come out Friday night. And since I wouldn't want to "waste" my Friday night, anyone coming out early up for dinner/drinks on Friday night? If so, that might help sway me.

Flights look wide open, so I can probably afford to waffle a bit about coming. ;)

Why don't you post something in the DC Happy Hour thread about this (Friday night get together)? Sometimes the presence of distinguished out-of-town guests like yourself works as a good reason for the DC area flyertalkers to have another evening event.

That's generally a big advantage when organizing something in early December.

Hi ifette,
Hope you don't mind, but I thought folks needed to start firming up their air travel plans, so decided some more definite focus was needed at this time.

Do you have any suggestions for a place for dinner?

Cheers,
GrizShel

I'm not due in until 1930 Friday (jungle jet from IND).

Upgraded to"definite" for NASM! :)

Well, HNL-LAX on DL cost less than the value of my DL bump voucher from October, and there was K availability on NW LAX-EWR for me to use my NW voucher from last December, so I'll be visiting my folks back east for most of a week, and plan on showing up at NASM... with my dad (who used to fly NW every week back when I was an infant!), and hopefully my sister and nephew (who should enjoy NASM) in tow.

So DanTravels+3 for the NASM portion. :)

I don't think we'll do the dinner and drinks part, though.

Please add me as definite for both the Museum and dinner.

I wish I could make this one - it sounds like a fun group, and I have a special place in my heart for the A&S Museum. I did a summer internship there in college, and designed and built one of the (simple) exhibits in the How Things Fly gallery.

Have fun!

Please add me as a "possible" for both parts. Headed to NYC on Friday, but may return in time.

Just saw this thread today. It sure is tempting. Put me down as a "maybe." I have been gone a lot of weekends lately and the two subsequent ones after this mini DO. But I might just come anyway. The fare from MSP sure is right.

More soon.

Put me down as a Probable.

I'm in for both the Smithsonian & dinner - how can I not support my favorite airline in their new display? :)
