I sent an email to the Libertador to see what the parameters would need to be for us to get a group rate.

Mine can also.

nice to see a lot of enthusiastic folks for a group rate. let's all make sure we get the dates of our stays finalized though, to better get the hotel the most accurate info possible :)

I arrive Aug. 21 & leave Sept. 2. I'm not sure if the entire time will be in EZE. It depends on if we pull together a side trip to the falls.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7130e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

My flight is booked for a Friday morning arrival and a Sunday night departure.

I likely won't know that for a long time from now as it will depend on whether or not I try to fit a trip to the falls in. Don't think they need things that specific ... just an approximate number of people and time frame should do it.

For Starwood fans I was able to book the Park Tower on a reasonable cash and points rate. I also booked my flight last night - was able to score a saver rate of 89k (Usair miles) for business class on UA. I figured it was a good deal but I've got just about zero experience on UA.

The Sheraton Buenos Aires & Convention Center is also available for cash & points. If I recall correctly, it is located near the ferry terminal which isn't too far a walk from the Libertador.

Ticketing Update

Just finished ticketing award travel today (for 2)! Arriving the day before (8/28) (Thursday) in order to relax before the fete! Making a 10-day trip out of this. Returning Saturday evening (9/6). Not sure where I'm staying yet!

Seeking opportunities now for an excursion outside of BsAs after the Do...wine country? the falls? south? ...not sure.

Itinerary (booked in AA Business):
Code:

Thursday, 27 August 2008  - AA Flt# 997 - DFW-->EZE  (7:35p-->8:10a, (8/28))
Saturday, 6 September 2008 - AA Flt# 900 - EZE-->MIA  (9:00p-->5:00a)
                            AA Flt#1773 - MIA-->DFW  (7:30p-->9:30a, (9/7))

[Would have preferred a direct return flight but AA wasn't offering that on reward travel. :(]

Looked into the Mexicana Business class fare out of JFK and LAX, but decided AA was easiest. Also looked at Delta out of DFW. Currently advertising ~$2300 in Business Class...very tempting, but again, AA was easiest choice for me.

Glad to hear you've got your tickets. We'll see you in the lounge on Saturday before coming home as we're traveling that night too, although direct to NY.

We also would be on for the Libertador if a group rate shows up.

If so, make sure to have them include a rate for those suites (unless an SPG Gold can get one with an upgrade). We will need more than two couches this time. :D

Also, can we have them paint color coded stripes on the walls to find our way around? I hear we might need them.;)

Count me in.

Airline tix (on hold) using AAdvantage miles to arrive Friday morning, August 29, and depart about 8 days later.

After the Do, I plan to visit Rosario (I attended high school there) and maybe Mendoza, Cordoba and/or Bariloche.

When I originally visited Iguazu Falls (as a teen-ager) we took a rowboat ride above the falls, right up to 15 ft. or so from the edge...do they still do that, or did an unfortunate accident or two deplete the employee pool?

Anybody planning to go to Ushuaia?

It looks like we are going to have a good size Austin contingent down there.
