If we're doing Mexican I vote for Pancho's (un-official FT place for Mexican). If we're doing Thai, Siam (un-official FT place for Thai) is fine. If we're doing Cuban, other than Versailles I'm not familiar w/ any, so will defer to others.
Both Pancho's & Siam are no more than 10 minutes from LAX. Pancho's is a 60-second walk from my house
But it's really up to GoingAway as to which she prefers.
Cheers.
PS GoingAway, I picked up brochures from a couple of places I go to for massages/facials, etc. Will put in mail to you.
PSS - Any of the 3 sound good to me.

If it helps any, my vote would be for Cuban as well; others seem interested and it's a new place we can try and add to the list.

Cuban it is
El Rincon Criollo - nondescript Cuban restaurant that, IMO, is better than the much-vaunted Versailles. http://losangeles.citysearch.com/profile/119366/
Does 6pm work?
I'm still shooting for 8/8:15 return to the airport to enjoy the lounge and possibly grab a shower before the long flight.
IceTrojan - does this mean you're now moved from maybe to definite?

Cuban works for me. Like the food & good to try a new place.
If IceTrojan is making it, he might be doing an afternoon in LA too, as travel from OC to CC on the day before a holiday during rush hour would be ugly. Should I get him brochures on the spas in the area too?

Cheers.

I'm reserving my absolute commitment in case I do go somewhere for that mid-week holiday... but right now I have nothing going on, and will be there hanging out at a nearby coffeeshop before dinner should nothing else change. Let's call it 75% sure.
If GoingAway needs it, I probably can provide transportation to/from the restaurant. Service is pretty quick there, so 2 hours should be good. The X factor is if it will be crowded... maybe I can call ahead and ask if they can set aside tables for us, if enough of us are coming.
And I probably could use a mani/peti, and perhaps a foot massage

Sounds good! I might end up being a little late just because my flight is scheduled to get in just after 6pm, although if everything runs on schedule and it only takes 10 min to get to the restaurant from the airport, I don't imagine I'd hold anything up.

I cant believe I never heard of El Rincon and my office was in Culver City and my gym up the street. Must have passed it hundreds of times. Anyway-IceT-I have extra gym passes if you want to work out and get that mani/peti/foot massage before dinner. They gyms on Sepulveda & Santa Monica and we could just roll down the street to El Rincon. My favorite classes on Tuesday are at 6:00 and 6:30 though so Ill miss part of those, unless theres a holiday schedule. It anyones up for cupcakes, I can pick up some at Sprinkles before dinner (red velvets my favorite).

OK, I can take a hint.
You can mark me as confirmed; +1 is unlikely as the 3rd is a work day and she's deep behind the Orange Curtain.
