I could certainly look into it if we are still in need of a venue. Punki and Hunki and myself and MargoOz are staying at the Sheraton Reston. (Neat $79 web rate!) The Seattle Twins have a car and can drive us if needs be, but seeing I've been in cars driven by several locals who have gotten lost around IAD, maybe settling for Reston Town Centre area makes more sense? ;) We've had a few neat FT dinners there. Herndon is pretty close I agree. The Dominion Brewery is about 12 miles away from Reston it seems?: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...,0.106773&om=1 But you locals are more savvy about parking issues etc, and the ability to pre-book on Friday for at least the 15 that we will likely need, so your call entirely. Glen |
We'll have a Never Lost so we shouldn't get too lost. :o

Are you referring to Jimmy's old town tavern?
It's also an Idine for those who play that game as well (however check first if benefits apply on Fridays - they usually do NOT apply) From the IDINE site (AA) Jimmy's Old Town Tavern Location: Reston/Herndon/Chantilly Cuisine Served: American Entrée Price: under $10 Lunch , $10 to $20 Dinner Street Address: 697 Spring St Herndon, VA 20170 US Phone: (703) 435-5467 Description: Found in one of the original thirteen colonies in historic "Old Town", Herndon, Jimmy's Old Town Tavern is 100% pure Americana. A "Cheers" style bar and attentive staff welcome you, ready to help you take a load off! The bar is stocked with domestic, imported and micro brewed beers, and for sophisticated tastes there are Chardonnays, Cabernets, and Merlots. The food is American with such luncheon favorites as Philly Cheese Steaks, Turkey Clubs, and the "All American Burger", along with Soups and Salads. Dinner standouts include London Broil, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, and Shrimp Platter. There is a kid's menu, game tables, dancing and a ferocious happy hour between four and eight in the evening. For young folks as well as the "Young at Heart", Jimmy's is the place to be!

Yep, I'm pretty sure that's the place. It's not too hard to find - right off Elden St. which connects to the toll road - although I'm not sure what the parking situation is there.

Here is a suggestion only. You locals have always come up with great places, and I am sure that will always be the case.
One place I do recall we had a nice dinner in a few years back was Clyde's at Reston Town Center. We had a pretty good sized table of folks. I recall kokonutz arrived there a few hours earlier than the rest of us to start testing the beers. Coff. ;) And bhatsnax will likely remember it as he generously handed around superb thick black leather Marriott bag tags from the Amman Jordan Marriott to all there, he'd scored for a song on ebay IIRC. ^ Anyway, we all know Friday nights for a party of about 15 getting a confirmed reservation ANYWHERE for about 8pm is a tough call. I checked their website and they are open late on Friday until about midnight, which was an issue with Dominion Brewery. http://www.clydes.com/main/Restauran...ydes_of_Reston Just on a hunch I phoned them today to ask whether a party of 15 would be an issue for Friday Nov 10. I got lucky and a manager called Judd answered, who used to live in South Africa and was into Rugby football etc and we had a good chat. I imagine a caller from Australia is not something that occurs every day at Clyde's Reston. :) I asked him if it were likely we'd have an issue with November 10. Their November book does not open up until October 1, but he was kind enough to offer me his personal work email address, and said if I kept in contact with him, he'd be sure to look after our booking and felt sure he could accommodate us. I asked if a party of 15 was going to be possible on one large table and he tells me that up to 20 persons he can arrange. So there is one option. It seems we have a personal contact there who sounds like he'll block-book us space on a Friday night on a large table. :p The prices will not blow anyone's budget I am sure, and food selection seems suitably wide. Shame we miss the Maine Lobster special by a week! http://www.clydes.com/main/MenusList...ydes_of_Reston Judd tells me parking should be fine, and that the Center is introducing valet parking by November 10 that will be only a few bucks he claims. Appreciate any input for other locals on this venue suggestion. :) |
the easiest way there is toll road to Elden street or toll road to Fairfax cty parkway and then get off at Elden Street
as for parking there is a lot across the street with access on the little side street, I'm not sure the name of the street though. I've been there a few times but I've never noticed what the name of the street was.

That's a Sunday -- if I catch the earlier flight back and am conscious, I'll swing by. I do like FTG though so I'm a maybe.
