The tags most certainly do work!
While heading to the Glasgow DO last month, I arranged to meet up with nonsoloinglese and AJLondon at LHR T1 and told them to look for the tags to find me.
Then, on the way back from Glasgow after the DO, the three of us were standing in the bmi check-in queue and the gentleman behind us noticed the tags on my bags and proceeded to introduce himself as thegoderic!
Nothing other than that yet, though. I'm guessing it doesn't help to mostly be travelling in Europe.

Had three hours between connections on the last leg of one day segment run and stopped into the RCC in terminal C. Saturday evening there are three international departures and I was hoping to see a yellow tag -- and there was[B] bseller[B] and friend waiting departure to LHR. (only the third time I've seen a yellow tag).
