Thanks Dan for another great tour day and dinner! This was my 2nd Brooklyn Reality Tour/dinner in a row, and my first time at the Freddy's.
Each years tour is a little different, and we had some interesting unscheduled stops and things to do. It was a great day of meeting up with new and old friends, touring, and of course eating.

GoodKarmaGuy - thanks for the walk down memory lane!
Every single one of my birthday cakes & occassion cakes came from Alliotta's until I moved to NJ. You made me hungry for one of those black & whites. Good thing I'll be there next weekend.
Do I need to take orders???

Thanks for everything, Dan. See you next year.

Next year I hope there is an anniversary edition of this tour because those black and white cookies sound fabulous!

When are you going?
You see, just like many of you have not met mrs. dhammer53, I still haven't met mary2e
She always finds a reason ...
Some of you did meet my wife at a Pre-Freddies party; at quiet dinners,, and in Tokyo
. After 26 years of marriage, I can assure you she does exist.
(covering all bases).
I'll be in Brooklyn on Saturday mary2e . Just say the time and the place.

Looking at the numerous sated looks at the dinner it was for sure a sign that Dan had once again put together a great day. Heard that a certain president was somewhat disappointed though that Dan forgot to include numerous sightings of the NYFD on this tour.

The only time I've seen them outside the U.S. has been in the underground shopping arcade that connects to the Munich train station, where they were called Amerikaners.

I was glad to be able to meet y'all at the lunch spot and deliver 'the late one' to the tour, although sadly there were no firetrucks there this year.
Dan

As most of you saw, the trip to Canal Street between lunch and dinner was quite fruitful. Fess up Shirl ...how many did you buy???
Now poor Dan has to deal with the withdrawl that any Do-Host/Hostess has to go through. All those months of anticipation leading up to the event, the excitement of the big day.. followed by the bittersweet sadness when its all over and done with.
I'd also like to apologize to anyone who may have been offended by the jewelry tasting conversation and say that I'm very glad that VPescado no longer thinks I'm a pompous a-hole

There are also many bakeries in Queens that make them - the Cake Box in Bayside makes them extremely well.
There are actually several strategies to eating one - do you eat the chocolate side first? Or the vanilla? Each person does it differently - I actually first slice the cookie in half so there are 2 black quarters and 2 white quarters - dont know why - then I alternate what I eat. Always good with a big glass of milk.
I also spotted them in Germany - I think it was Cologne - about a month ago - also called Amerikaners.
Sorry I missed the tour and dinner (which I made in a prior year) - born and lived first 3 months in Bklyn.
