There are also many bakeries in Queens that make them - the Cake Box in Bayside makes them extremely well.

There are actually several strategies to eating one - do you eat the chocolate side first? Or the vanilla? Each person does it differently - I actually first slice the cookie in half so there are 2 black quarters and 2 white quarters - dont know why - then I alternate what I eat. Always good with a big glass of milk.

I also spotted them in Germany - I think it was Cologne - about a month ago - also called Amerikaners.

Sorry I missed the tour and dinner (which I made in a prior year) - born and lived first 3 months in Bklyn.
