I joined FT in Jan 2001 and at that time I had just booked a trip to Bundaberg.
One thing to come from Bundaberg is Rum and their mascot is the polar bear.
http://www.bundabergrum.com.au Bundaberg Rum has some great TV adverts featuring the Bundy Bear.
I never have the same name between different message boards.
PlatinumScum you never read the Qantas section of FT until you signed up with FT.

1961 - Square bottle and Bundy R. Bear are born.
Sam McMahon invented the square bottle, the three piece yellow label and the polar bear.

Sold it last July. 280+k miles on it at time of sale.
It's still on the streets of San Diego so...
Redbeard911 is just being an airhead but yeah UA Fan, I still get that all the time... I was in the TalkMail as "civicmom" so it just goes with the territory.

similar tale to the previous poster's:
sxj890 was my unix login (based on my initials and employee #) back in my newsroom days, which then migrated to my first ISP account (AOL c.1993) in its splinched form, sxj.
one pivotal day about five years later, needing an anonymous but memorable (to me) handle for FT, I just phoneticized my aol handle for kicks.
nothing terribly arresting, I'm afraid.

I am, alas, exactly as my handle describes me.

kaukau: k-a-u are the first three letters of our last name; since there are two of us (Mr. & Mrs.), double it up to kaukau; and kaukau is pidgin in the Islands for "food" (n.), or "to eat" (v.): one of our
hobbies! So it's a double entendre!

When I started to travel for work I often found myself in places with only satellite phone access.
At the time, that meant around 9600 baud max on a very pricey connection, just as the age of spam was dawning. I created a separate e-mail account that I never used on any commercial site or put on any websites that I distributed to colleagues and family so that I could get critical mail without watching garbage download for hours.
When I joined FT, it just seemed appropriate.

Mine is from Kipper the Dog, which is a very cute book/cartoon series. One of the first presents DH gave me was a talking Kipper the Dog stuffed animal.
