Guys... maybe its a good idea for one of the organizers of this 2005 edition to start a separate thread...? I should be in town for the dates that are planned...

cheers

We'll definitely be starting a separate thread, but have to get a few things in order with the dates first. While we're definite for that weekend, we're still trying to figure out the specific dates to be in BsAs (Friday-Monday, Friday-Sunday, Saturday-Monday, etc?) and coordinating with vacation/holiday schedules. Will do so shortly, but in the meantime we thought this would be a good place to get some interest generated as everyone can see how much fun we had last October.

Gaucho100k -- glad to see you should be around that weekend!

What is the 6-day stay restriction? Is that something to do with UA fares?

While I can only speak to UA fares, the answer to your question is "YES", longer=lower. However, its my understanding that all the major carriers have lower fares offered in conjunction with longer stays (on certain routes) so as to maximize revenue from the business traveller who can't (or won't) commit to these stay restrictions....

Best wishes, Dave

Exactly. I don't recall the exact fare difference but we paid considerably more than if we'd had the longer stay. Current SWU-upgradeable fares ex-ORD on UA aren't reflecting a difference at this point for October.

Good News

The upgradeable fares on Delta have just a 3-day minimum!! MsEverywhere and I are both booked to arrive Friday morning, the 7th, departing Monday night, the 10th.

Great news!!!!! I'll be starting a new thread soon for this year's trip, so keep your eyes open (I should have my vacation schedule cleared by the end of this month). I plan to arrive Oct 7 and depart on the 10th for either IGU or ORD, depending on vacation time.

Not to 'beat a dead horse', but what is UA.com thinking. Once again I dutifully went on UA.com to check out fares from EWR to EZE 10/7 return 10/9 (holiday weekend et al). UA.com comes up with their 'best fare' of $1971!! in coach... Along side that site, my trust SideStep comes up with the exact same flights on UA at 970!! (along with lots of others on UA, AA & DL at fares ranging from $700-1100). I call UA. To be once again told, no those cheaper fares require a minimum 3 night stay. So I check on my corp travel site, where the fare for those exact same flights/days is also $970 and when I call to find out what class of fare that is, I'm told 'M', which is SWU upgradeable. I then call UA who confirms yes that is upgradeable and yes there are upgrade seats available. So what gives UA on the $1971 fare-- I know my corp/Rosenbluth/ITN fare is a discounted one--but it still seems a bit strange given that SideStep came up with the same fare cheap yet upgradeable fare.
PS--I haven't done anything yet, still waiting to see what CO does when they finally announce their non stops to PEK from EWR
