White truffles, anyone?

Perhaps o2k can recommend a restaurant where we could enjoy this special seasonal delight?

Dovster Oct 3, 2004 8:45 am

Dorlee, whether or not she names them here, knowing her as I do, I can almost guarantee that she will show you exactly where to find one when we are in VCE -- in fact, she will probably join you there.

As a health food fan, I, of course, will not be participating in that feast but will instead be found filling my face with chocolate pastries.

White truffles followed by chocolate pastries for dessert sounds perfect!! :)

Dorlee, you are obviously unfamiliar with my eating habits.

The chocolate pastries are not desserts. They are appetizers.

They are followed by the main course, apple strudel.

For dessert, I generally have a fruit dish -- like a banana split.

I can't believe how quickly the time has passed!

The idea for a Venice Meet was first discussed by a couple of us at the PBI-FLL Meet in May. Then, four months ago to the day, I announced it on the Delta Board.

Now I am exactly one month from starting my very round-about trip to VCE.

On November 5, I will go to Tel Aviv and spend the night there. (It will be a Friday, and there are no domestic flights in Israel from sundown Friday until sundown, Saturday.) The next morning I will go to the airport to fly EWR-FLL.

On Nov. 11, I will fly MIA-CDG-UIG, arriving on the 12th. Then it will be only 6 days until I arrive in VCE. I arrive on the 18th, which will give me time to meet with O2K, Doc O2K, Monitor, Franny, Dorlee and Leonard to discuss what nasty tricks we can play on Cholula the next day!

Is this the serious thread?

So they've finally relocated the Newark Airport to Tel Aviv then, have they?

It was part of a "Lend-Lease" deal. Israel was supposed to supply America with six of its overage aircraft carriers and, in exchange, would receive Dubai International Airport. For some strange reason, however, the United Emirates objected and we got stuck with EWR instead. :(

On the bright side, as compensation America threw in Tony Soprano, one of New Jersey's top managers, to run the airport. That eliminates the possibility of any future strikes.

Well, if there's one upside to the VCE trip, it appears I no longer have to play the straight man to Dovster.
We obviously have a new candidate here....

Play the straight man? You mean that you were just putting on an act and you are not really a straight man? Does Mrs. C know this?

The Miracle in Venice

"It was an eight-year nightmare: Fire, destruction, delays. But next month the curtain rises again at La Fenice opera."

That is the beginning of a wonderful article on the glorious new theatre. It is in the October issue of Conde Nast Traveler magazine.

We are in for a very special performance!

I have decided I cannot make this trip. :(

My new house has been delayed by the hurricanes and the new completion date is Nov 15. I have to close w/i 5 days of this date and since I will be at a client site Nov 15-18, I have to close on the house Nov 19.

I am very disappointed and would have loved to be in Venice with all the friends I made on here.

I made my hotel reservations on Orbitz and just cancelled them. Maybe Orbitz puts them back in their system and someone who needs the room can get the low rate I had.

Here's hoping for another great FT get together in the new year!

So sorry to hear that you will not be joining us. I know that we will have other great FT meets in VCE. Hey, me and my sweetie are in VCE every November. We'll miss you this time but will definitely catch-up later.
--All best wishes on your new home--
