Shark's Cove - Noon Saturday
Ok, Shark's Cove it is for noon Saturday. For those who are familiar with MB, it's in the center of town on Manhattan Beach Blvd next to Hennessy's & The Kettle. I'll call over & get an address or website. This is a new sports bar in town, and I've gone there w/ auh2o, wingless & thezipper before on dif occasions (used to be Manhattan Coolers).
I'm trying to get some info on Shellback Tavern, but can't remember if that's the other place I'm thinking of or it's one next to it (there's 2-3 places closer to the pier & they all run together in my mind), so decided to go w/ Shark's Cove.
Anyone needs directions and parking info, email me at [email protected] & put FT in the subject line.
Also, I don't know if they take reservations but in case they do, post here yes or no so I have a head count. Cheers.

Smarty Jones
Ok, we either have to eat/drink fast so I can get home in time to watch Smarty Jones (hopefully) take the Triple Crown, or we have to stay long enough that I can watch it on the multiple screens there
Here's the address & phone: Shark's Cove, 309 Manhatn Bch Blvd, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266, 310-545-2683

I've never been to Manhattan Beach!
I'm embarrassed to admit that after almost 13 years of living in LA, I've never been to Manhattan Beach. If a FT lunch can't get me there, I don't know what can! Please add me to the list of attendees.

I think you assume correctly!
I'll make sure to bring my FT luggage tag with me and put it somewhere on my person so that it will be easily seen, for those of us who have never met.

Just talked to the restaurant. They don't take reservations, so I'll put our name in for a table (Flyertalk) when I get there. I'd say meet at the bar & then move to a table when it's available. The bar only has 9 seats & odds are a couple other folk might already be there, so we can't just eat at the bar.
Again, a reminder. With the AVP in town (not to mention it just being a normal SoCal day at the beach), Shark's Cove will be busy at lunchtime. Oh drat - we have to drink more?
But because of the AVP, parking will be a zoo. Best bet is either the 2-story parking structure behind the restaurant or the new underground parking structure at corner of Valley & Manhattan Beach Blvd (entrance on Valley coming south from 13th St). Bring quarters.
After drinks, meal & hopefully Smarty Jones winning
, folk can wander down Manhattan Beach Blvd to the pier to watch part of the volleyball action if they so desire. Cheers. See you Sat - and may be the weather be as nice then as it is today.
PS - For those from out east who have not been out in the sun, bring some sunscreen if you plan on watching the vball tourney. Doesn't take long to get a sunburn if you're not used to sun.

I may be able to make this if I can get my act together early in the day. If I do show up, how do I get there, please. Usually to get to Pancho's, Sharon's etc. I just take the 405 to the 105 til it ends, then I just keep going straight and make a left at the ocean, like where that road ends. Is the pier area and this place just a little farther down than Panchos? On that same road?

Directions for lisamcgu
Lisa, if you make it up, take the 405N to the Inglewood exit. After exiting, turn right onto Inglewood & at the first light (think that's it, but there should be a street sign), make a right onto Manhattan Beach Blvd. Stay on MBB to downtown Manhattan Beach. If you drive into the volleyball nets on the beach, you've gone too far
See above posts re: actual address & places to park. Cheers.

Shuttle
I'll be taking the free shuttle from Northrop Grumman (corner of Marine & Aviation) to avoid any parking (and driving
hassles especially with a few beers in me LOL) hassles in MB
See you at noon'ish
Edited to add that I'm running late (in OC now) but should be there no later than 1:00 p.m.
