Welcome to FT... and to everyone else, let's give him the benefit of the doubt and hold off on piling on.

SFTG - Welcome to Flyertalk and a whole and in the GLBT forum. Since you're new you probably don't know some of the things that have gone on in the past. In the General Community forum, it was very controversial after someone posted for a get-together for people under 30. And when the GLBT forum was created, there was a concern that it would become a "dating" forum. So your post kind of became a hot potato. Anyways, just wanted to explain the thinking behind all of the above posts and look forward to you being part of our Community in the future.

Not controversial at all Don't know if he ever came back, but it did make for some rather humour filled forums

Welcome SFTG.

Wink

Some of my favorite FlyerTalkers are men in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s. Some of them are men who used to be in their twenties when I met them, but are now in their 30s. One of my very most favorite FlyerTalkers is a young man still in his teens--he was ten when I met him. I also have two very most favorite FlyerTalkers who are very, very handsome men in their 60s, and there was another 70+ FlyerTalk gentleman friend who has been permanently upgraded. :-:

I have also met delightful, interesting and intelligent women FlyerTalkers in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s. Maybe 70s, but no one has fessed up to that.

The wonderful thing about meeting FlyerTalkers is that it is always a surprise to discover new and exciting people, of all ages and orientations, who happen to share a love of travel and an addiction to miles and points. Way very cool.

OBTW, great post Jan. I tried to give your rep and "attagirl" but it told me I had used up all my compliments for the day. I wish they would set it up so you could have like ten complilments in a day, but only one negative ding. There are sooooooooo many great posts.

Frankly though, being new, I am a bit confused as to what all these postings are about....trying to second guess me.

Gee, can't a person be nice. I guess that is the kind of world we live in.

Frankly disgusted.
Sorry to offend, but I am a bit of a silly guy. I find humor in things. Please do not take it personally.
FT is a great place with many wonderful people of all types. Welcome to our virtual neighborhood.
You can have fun and travel well with the wealth of information available on FT.

Welcome and best regards,
Jon
PS sorry William!

Thumbs up Glad to meet you SF Tech Guy!

First of all, I love gay guys because they are so thoughtful and such gentlemen and just a delight to hang with. So I already love you

Now, my opinion, one of the best parts of FT is the ability for those from different walks of life to get together on a friendly basis with others to share, predominately, an interest in travel.

In the past, I have been one of those, in particular, who found those using FT looking to meet with just specific individuals ala personals.com an affront to this open, friendly concept. What would happen if I got together with someone intent on just hitting on me while I was happily there just to share travel mishaps, adventures and advise?

My innocence would be somewhat crushed and I would feel somewhat violated is what. Definitely on a very small scale, but it all adds up. I would be just that much wary from then on. Again, it all adds up, so anything FTers can do to eliminate this "threat", I have noticed they (and I) do. Including letting any newbies, who don't seem to have caught onto the gist of FT, know exactly how things are.

Obviously, you get it now, why some of us are so touchy. Sorry for the uncomfortable intro.

Can't wait to meet you!
