Sfo Prof Guy Wants To Meet Visitors

Hey,

I live pretty close to SFO. I'm a nice guy that likes meeting and helping others out.

If you are interested in good places to eat or go while you are in SF, let me know...and I will respond.

Also looking for men in their 30s or so who want to meet for dinner while they are here.

Have a good trip. :)

Hi SFTechGuy. Welcome to FlyerTalk!

We have a whole Community forum where FlyerTalkers meet and greet each other, which is where I'm moving this thread. People from all over the board will be interested in finding great places to eat in SFO!

Thanks

SFTG,

Thanks for offering to provide advice and suggestions for people.

Expect some ribbing on your 30's - something dinner offers. There have been a few times when Fters have limited who they are willing to meet with. That is not in the spirit of Flyertalk.

It almost looks like you are looking for dates since you only want to meet men in their 30's.

Welcome to FT.

William

That was my take on this also. SM for SM likes to eat in Foggy town looking for others with similar tastes.
:D
Ok i'm bad but Mr Harvey set me up!

SFTechGuy: let me add my welcome to FT as a "neighbor" 10NW of SFO. Check this forum for events. For. ex., there is a FT get-together in SF this Sun. for a film screening and dinner. Join an event and get to know the many fine FTers iin the SFO area. As other posters note, FT encourages inclusiveness for all members. Welcome! OCn Vw 1K - Moderator

Moderator Robb should be commended for maintaining the focus of his forum and keeping the interests of the wider FlyerTalk family in mind by moving this thread. :)

Community forum is supposed to be inclusive of everyone

Surely you jest.

The original poster definitely sounds like he's soliciting dates with other men in the SF Bay Area.

Nothing wrong with that, EXCEPT that it's been established that the Community forum is supposed to be inclusive rather than exclusive.

Prior threads that tried to set up parties that were only for young (20's), good-looking, hetero singles, and that barred attendees that didn't fit that profile, got thoroughly flamed and booed off the board.

SFTG,

I could not find it quickly... but there is also (if I recall correctly) a thread on San Francisco flyer talkers. There are many on this board and they are all so friendly.

I have only met one in person Tom911 (he is near San Fran) and he is an outstanding guy.

IF you find that thread, you will be on your way...

There is also another thread where people have posted their home airports, you should post on that... and you can see who signed SFO and OAK as their home airport.

I hope that helps you.

William

Thanks Tom...

So just to be clear.....

I want to help and meet people that will be traveling to SFO...I'm proud of the town.

My original post was in the Gay Forum because I am new to Flyertalk and am gay...and thought that would be a good place to post.

Frankly though, being new, I am a bit confused as to what all these postings are about....trying to second guess me.

Gee, can't a person be nice. I guess that is the kind of world we live in.

Frankly disgusted.

Not your fault that your post got moved to another forum.

Just wondering why the moderator (robb) did this. Seems like he put it in the wrong place.

Hope that clears things up a little.

But, I also wonder about YOUR nasty reaction, quoted above: "Gee, can't a person be nice. I guess that is the kind of world we live in. Frankly disgusted." (I thought you said you were a nice guy.)

Surely, you can't blame us (longtime participants in FlyerTalk) for questioning a post being moved into the wrong forum.

Well....you just have to know about history on FT, and maybe then you'll understand why you got the responses you did as a new poster. There have been previous posters that wanted to limit FT gatherings to specific age groups over the last few years (as has been pointed out), and that's generally frowned upon, as FT events should be open to everyone. Also, intentional or not, your post that you want to meet men in their 30's for dinner comes across, well, like you are looking for someone to hook up with (I might add that I don't fall in that group). We don't really have an area on FT for things like this. If you had just left that one line off, you wouldn't have got the response you got. If you knew the history here with posts involving specific age groups, you'd better understand the response you did get.

Just write it off as an FT learning experience, and continue to post on topics that might interest you.

Too bad you got off on the wrong foot here! We're all mostly pretty nice.

BTW, I'd like to be nice to some men in their 20s! :D

jan_az Apr 17, 2004 8:59 pm

Can I have the men in their 40's :D

( Oops - forgot - I'm taken :o )

Seriously -

Welcome to FT!!! You will find that generally we are a pretty laid back group that gets together irregardless of age, sex, sexual-orientation, etc to hang out and talk about miles, points and whatever else happens to be on our minds that day. WE have fun traveling ( sometimes in groups) which is what community is about and why Robb probably moved this here - to see new places and new faces
