The Monday of the three day weekend in Japan at the beginning of January '06 falls on the 9th. Hmmm......

Not so convenient for the U.S. contingent. Have to ponder that one. If I put in a request early enough, I may just be able to manage the MLK weekend again. It would seem to suit most attendees best.

I shall get back to you on this in a few weeks. Probably after the 330 day limit date but still well in advance of the 6 schedule and aircraft changes to take place on the various JFK/ORD/SFO/LAX - NRT/HKG/SIN routes. Upgrades should be eminently possible. My criteria for dates will be the ease of travel for the majority (i.e. a three day weekend in the U.S. if possible) and the ease of getting upgrades from the most reasonable economy fares to business.

Stay tuned...

Mike

I am being too impatient for 2006 dates right?

At least you're not alone! :D

SWU for you!

I have one UA SWU which expires at the end of January 2005. It is yours free. The SWU will be used to upgrade the FT with the longest flight which is available. You will please provide your UA record locator, complete itin and last name. I will verify over the phone with UA the upgrade is available. I will then via ua.com upgrade your flight via that system. Your are advised I may not have time to sign at the airport for the upgrade so we must rely upon the ua.com system. FT PM your information. I will do my best but can promise nothing solid. Thanks

I believe that he had Newton Circus in mind when he made the initial suggestion. This is a Food Court near the Sheraton. Much like Lau Pa Sat which is where people are going on arrival on Friday, but different. Clearly it is early a.m. here because when I reread that last sentence it makes less and less sense. :)

I would suggest that for ease of communicataing with taxi drivers, coordinating with the majority of FTers, etc. that we make the lobby (concierge desk) of the Sheraton the rendezvous point at 12:00.

I will watch the thread for responses to this and then add these details to the page if it seems to fly with everybody.

Talk to you soon,

Mike

Apologies for bailing and not setting up alternative plans for the Sunday food court tour. It sounds as though everyone had a great time. I will make a special effort to set up guided food court tours for Saturday and/or Sunday at the 2006 Do. "Special effort" meaning I will spend ~ 10 days scouting out the best options throughout 2005! Jan 13, 14, 15 & 16, 2006 look to be the dates if the MLK birthday/holiday weekend is to be repeated?

Darn, just found this thread. My trip would have been just a few km by taxi!

Anyone passing through SIN before 11 Feb or after 11 May is welcome to drop me a line and I'll join for a drink or food. jan '06 is no problem, will be in town.

I made it home safe, too...

I just lack the time to post the pics somewhere. If anybody has some time available, please let me know so that I can e-mail to pics...

And to those who want some Starbucks mugs from MUC - please PM me with your address (or come to the MUC DO). ;)

You have jpg's and just need them loaded somewhere? I can set up an album for you online if you want and load them, no problem. Email them to the account associated with my FT id (in at least a zip file if not a few - don't know how many pictures you have) - I should have time this weekend and high speed access, if my laptop behaves that is.

Sounds like a page for mjm if I've ever heard one :)

I like that idea :) It will give some us another option to fulfill the 6 day stay requirements that have been on the UA fares.

what are the 2006 dates?

Have the 2006 dates been chosen yet? Would someone please post definites if they have been selected?

I am definitely interested.............

Kiwi Flyer Feb 4, 2005 11:05 am

Coming up to 330 day window yeah. What are the dates for 2006?

transpac Feb 5, 2005 2:14 pm

If tradition holds, the dates would be Friday, 13 January 2006 - Sunday, 15 January 2006 as this event has been held three years running on the weekend that includes the Monday holiday in the U.S known as Martin Luther King's birthday (3rd Monday in January). However, I think it is up to mjm to decide?
