Nor4:

Unfortunately none of the new LCCs will get you anywhere on your list of possible destinations AFAIK Valuair only flies to BKK, HKG and CGK (Jakarta) right now and AirAsia only gets you to BKK I believe.

The destinations you mention are primarily served by majors and SilkAir which isn't an LCC from the pricing point of view at least.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in hot humid SIN

Definitely shooting for a "repeat" ... if ambien does its job again, I'll be good for a few hours to experience a little of SIN, no problem -- I only have two days there, after all. I'll likely have zero clue about what time it is or where I am but that's not important stuff

IIRC, you can get quite decent rates with Priceline at Marriott (www.biddingfortravel.com). I wouldn't advise on staying at the Fullerton, since it is the biz district, so a virtual ghost town on sundays. Raffles the Plaza is right above City Hall MRT (subway stn) so it is quite convenient.

I was at Fisherman's Village at Pasir Ris last weekend, and really enjoyed that place. There's excellent food at decent prices, with the sea just right in front of you. It's a pity it doesn't run 24 hrs, else turn-around MRs could drop by for quick beer and chilli crabs, satay, mee goreng etc...It's abt 10 mins away from Changi Airport

I'm getting the sense that I should do this soon before the entire upper deck of the 744 is full.
Try www.silkair.com
They have quite good fares for the summer, esp when you book 45 days in advance.

Alternatively, you can take a 45-min ferry to Bintan. There's a Club Med, and quite a few decent resorts in the area.

Dave M,

Got you down and looking forward to meeting you. Bring Lori along and we'll make a party of it.

Sweet Willie,

High time we broke bread again, or crabs legs as the case may be. Glad to know you will be feasting with us.

seanthepilot,

Ah but could you do it any other way. SE Asia does have you hypnotized. See you there.

restlessinRNO,

A beer in NRT it shall be. And then a great weekend on the equator. Glad to see you can make this DO.

Carol,

Knew you would be there. Now that you are ticketed though I feel better. And I will sneak in a comment along the same lines here to you to Jan. Ladies, it is indeed a DO now.

GoingAway,

Deb, travel to Asia much? You are the local pretty soon. See you a few times this winter.

Kev,

The San Francisco contingent is getting great representation. I will even have a walk to the HRC with you. *$$ is next door.

Wireless,

Another local from where I used to be a local. Looking forward to meeting you.

indo79,

It was destiny. We will have nearly as many locals as non on this trip. Cool stuff! Enjoy the flights.

So one and all, how do make the calendar move faster. This is going to be a great way to beat the post holiday lull around home.

I have updated the page and will keep it current.

See you all there...............

Mike

seeing everyone ticket so early really makes me want to go! I am low on $$$ at the moment seeing as I just flew in a few hours ago from the DUS DO IV. Since my mind is slightly ALTered right now due to lack of sleep I am going to do some research on cheap flights out of New Orleans.

Rachel,

An Alt enhanced brain though may have (a fine beverage of which I could not partake this year, Grrrrrr.....) , it will surely clear soon and let you see that SIN is a place you simply must be. Good luck with the finances and let us know when I can move you to the Red Font grouping.

Hope to see you there.

Turning into? It's been a party since Sunday! And for those of you starting on 869 in SFO, those of us joining you in HKG will be expecting our drinks to be awaiting our arrival on the plane!

Who needs an ATSB guarantee when there's a FT DO to fund the coffers?

(my apologies for the silence today, I managed to muck my reservation, and work was extra busy for a monday)

I hear the party 747 is UA 869, I too will be upstairs in 12H, back and forth across the pacific I go. While I had intended to go to OZ and the land of Kiwi in January, what better way but to do it in true FT style (even if I am new at this): I'll just fly down there another week that month and get even more EQMs!

This is going to be fun! I look forward to meeting everyone, I only wish it wasn't so far off!

Thanks to klau for the itinerary, we're on the same ships (the rep started to ask questions but decided it wasn't worth it and she changed the subject. hehe)

Hmm folks might want to check the price of their itineraries. I just refared. Just be warned you will need to reconfirm your upgrades

Thanks to wireless for posting his fare otherwise I never would have refared. Anyhow still in 17A on all International segments and 1A on the domestic ones.

Tossing out another idea for Sunday's Hawker Stall run...

I had mentioned the Chinatown Complex Food Centre, and then in reviewing some of my notes, remembered that the Maxwell Road Food Centre is only about 200 m away. Maxwell Road FC does have a pretty good Chicken Rice stall (Stall 10 Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice) and Stall 87 has good Rickshaw Noodles.

Any interest in going to Maxwell Road first, then walking over to Chinatown Complex Food Court Block 335 Smith Street where there are hundreds of stalls.

Note that these FC's do not have air conditioning.

If I had to recommend just one, it would be the Chinatown Complex FC.

This area can be reached easily, by cab maybe 6 minutes from the Conrad down South Bridge Road, Maxwell Road FC by the East-West Blue MRT to Tanjong Pagar (W1) and walk up Maxwell Road and the Chinatown Complex FC by the Northeast Purple MRT to Chinatown (NE4) down Pagoda St, right on Trennganu.

Comments? Preferences?
