I know a few people here in Paris who fled Israel but all have a US passport. Have they considered a neighbouring country to Russia where other Russians fled when the war in Ukraine started?

Marina has an Israeli passport and left Russia about 8 years ago.

Perhaps they can consider enrolling her at Hadassim.

The last 48 hours were peaceful in Central Tel Aviv even as other areas north and south of us dealt with rocket fire. In an attempt to return to normalcy, we invited friends over for a kids play date / adult brunch. Absent from the menu was any alcohol so that we could all be fully alert.

The bagels from Tals Bagels were soft and tasty which is better than usual. Everyone was having a nice time. We decided to go for a walk around Ben Gurion street. While we were out, we heard interceptions several miles away in Rishon Letzion, but nothing closer. Our dogs loved spending some time in the mini dog park running around.

We then walked with the kids over to Dizengoff Circle and hung out for a bit before returning home. As the kids were getting settled with their toys, there was a red alert 🚨 and we had to run into the stairwell.

And in just a moment 48 hours of tranquility was shattered and we were reminded of the war which often seems so distant, but is only a few miles away.

A the end of the Sabbath, there is a Havdallah service. The closing message asks for a good week and a week of peace which is particularly appropriate at this moment.

If they can line up financial support (maybe from an immigrant-assistance organization like HIAS), perhaps they could get humanitarian parole:

https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/humanitarian_parole

There are certainly mainly Ukrainians who fled the war there who were able to get into the U.S. -- at least for the time being.

I drove to the kibbutz today to pick up some things I need. The only people I saw there were reservists (including some from the kibbutz.) My drive included about 8 kilometers along the Northern Road and while I could look into Lebanon, I did not see anyone on the other side of the fence.

Fwiw I know several Russians that moved to Cyprus when the war started. I don't know how much help they got from their employer but it seemed like they considered lots of options and that was the easiest and most desirable for them. I wonder about some other younger EU countries that are soliciting immigration like Estonia for example, which they might also find a Russian community in. But I don't know the details about immigration to either of these.

Finding normalcy in the chaos is important. We walked the half hour as a family to the Nespresso shop so my wife could make sure she remains properly caffeinated for the remainder of the conflict. We stopped at a park along the way and our daughter went down the bigger kids slides while the dogs ran around.

At Nespresso, my wife crammed pumpkin spiced coffee and other bits of concentrated caffeine. Pricing has not adjusted for the stronger dollar and there was an extra 10% sale due to the current situation. 40 vertuo capsules for $25.99 on our US Card + 52 CaptalOne Miles! Things are still calm in Tel Aviv, but theres still activity in the north and south of the country.

Baby is napping while we are eating late lunch at home. Hoping for the day to stay quiet, but we know it probably will not.

Dovster.

Chaver. Our family/friends/community have been closely following the events in Israel and Gaza. We're sickened by what we've been reading and watching, but I'll share my editorial comments in Omni. Everyone here is supporting Israel with cash, going to vigils, posting and sharing various online news that needs to be shared.

Please stay safe my friend. להישאר בטוח

Specialty dog food isnt as readily available. All online shopping from outside the country comes with a warning about delays. FedEx was charging 10x their regular rate for a guaranteed delivery of air freight according to a screenshot from a buddy.
