SIgh....another old-time Flyertalker I've met. Gene and I ended up on the same $61 fare mistake BWI-KEF flight to Iceland once.

If there were articles written about that mistake fare, that fare is the reason I joined FT.

I just realized there was this tribute to Gene. I am Gene's traveling partner for over 20 years, including the trip to Iceland due to the mistake fare mentioned above. He passed away in late March, 2022. We had a memorial in his beloved Great Canyon on his birthday in May 2022. So if you have a chance to visit Grand Canyon, say hi to him. Through him, I learned so much about the mileage gametoo. His legendary contribution to this site was probably the fight with United Airlines for 5X bonus miles in 2004 ( UA agrees to honor original terms of Early Bird Bonus ).

Thanks for this tribute to him.

Kinda sad when there's a post in an RIP thread that's barely a year old from someone who now has his own RIP thread ...
