I'm sure that could be arranged provided a flying machine is in attendance. Or we just do doughnuts anyway. 🙃

Preferably on Sunday before jrl767 flies , or at earliest after the Homecoming game on Saturday .

I booked AS86 SEA-JFK at 950pm Sun, so I’ll have until ~7p depending on meetup location/s

have the TV schedulers set the kickoff time for the game on Sat yet?

Hey! Just saw this, I'd drive down if there's something going on. :)

Was supposed to find my way to the LEX Do, but flights just weren't cooperating. For SEA my transportation choices are so much better!

I'm not seeing a game listed for that Saturday -- I think it's Sunday around 1pm or so?

Some outdoor/dog friendly activity ideas: we could go check out the Ballard Locks. It should be peak Salmon season right? Go watch the salmon go through the tube. Maybe brunch/lunch before or after at Portage Bay, I think the Ballard location is dog friendly, maybe with a reservation.

Could also do a really classic Space Needle thing, maybe start with coffee/pastry at Vita@KEXP and walk over to the Needle or Sculpture Garden, or I think there's been some kind of beer garden every weekend evening now for the past couple weeks. Not sure what is there next weekend, but I can double check when I'm back in town.

If people want to do something more laid back, we can grab a table at a local spot in a neighborhood. Hotel Astra (new Marriott hotel) in SLU has a brand new rooftop bar I've been meaning to check out, or maybe Pie Bar?

UW homecoming game that FlyerEC mentioned is listed at 230pm on Sat; Squawks kick off at 125pm on Sun

there’s a 4000-passenger cruise ship in port each day, so pretty much all the tourist-heavy downtown-area attractions (Seattle Center/ Space Needle, Pike Place Market, waterfront, Pioneer Square — the latter more so on Sun with 60-some thousand football spectators) are likely to be pretty crowded

we went to the Ballard Locks w friends from the Madison WI area over Labor Day weekend; the salmon viewing was quite good (in fact, the four of us looked at each other and simultaneously said “Salmon on the grill for dinner!”)

this “art walk” through Fremont and Ballard was featured in the Seattle Times yesterday; it goes within a couple blocks of many of the breweries and cideries mentioned upthread (starting at Post # 101) … I’m not sure how I managed to omit Heritage Distilling Company (at 18th & Market) from that list earlier this year :o

thanks to the Mariners’ remarkable comeback in Toronto this afternoon, there will be ~45000 people in the vicinity of T-Mobile Park on Sat afternoon … and if necessary there will be a Sunday game as well, with a similar crowd

I'd like to like this, but feels disloyal somehow. And I don't even follow baseball. :D

does your calendar permit a cross-border trip next weekend for whatever this get-together turns out to be?

It does! I'm totally in, whatever part of town it might be in ... though I now realize I ought to book a hotel ASAP, based on the above!

Last Sunday , some fracas - just off UW campus - has resulted in a no go .. sadly missing on site meetings - back to Zoom for yours truly :( , Homecoming game , ..

nomadic.relief , all the best with hotels - all around UW are full , thankfully friends offered their homes , as only “ best “ suites available at FS , at horrendous rates , about a couple of weeks ago !

jrl767 your suggestions brilliant are a to do for another visit ( it has been awhile ) or Do .. wonder how many reading this are on those ships or at the games

Trying not to mope

For some reason I thought the Seattle Times link was referencing the actual Ballard Art Walk (Saturdays, 6-9pm). Looks like it's actually a more spontaneous mural spotting thing.

Any consensus on whether we are doing a Saturday Thing or a Sunday Thing?

Polytonic Oct 11, 2022 1:53 pm

So I finally managed to snag myself a booster appointment for this Friday. Given my reaction to the past shots (i.e. out of commission for a day) my vote leans towards Sunday mid-morning.

jrl767 Oct 11, 2022 2:26 pm

sounds good

Dang, I'll be flying thru SEA Monday. Don't think they'll let me move this a day early... have fun!
