Mileage Addict - perfect. :-:

Maybe you can do some lassoo demos and offer some calf tying and hay baling tips for us in between rounds of beer?

Where was that place near IAD we went to once that had those terrific little sample rounds of beers, does anyone recall? All on a spinning type of deal. They were great.

Lynn is the new lady in my life, and we met a number of FT'ers a month or so back in SFO at a dinner when travelling thru the USA. We then spent a week driving around the tiny rural backblocks of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana and Georgia. Then we visited Seattle-via-Chexfan-tour and Canada.

I caught up with another ex-DC regular Jason - "IdealFlyer" at a lunch we had in NYC with doc, Analise, Monitor, HobokenFlyer, and others a few weeks back. He is settling in well it seems. ^

Sweetwater Tavern.

Agree with GoingAway about Fairfax Corner. Coastal Flats is good like the other Great American Restaurants (Sweetwater et. al.) and the outdoor bar is quite nice when it isn't winter.

How long do the happy hours usually last? Have dinner plans I can't break, but could try and schedule around the happy hour or meet up later, I've been trying to get to these since I moved here from SAN, but seem to be very good at getting waylaid by school/work...

Looking forward to meeting you... sometime...

On average ... starts around 7pm and breaks up around 9 or 9:30 pm. Depends on where the place is located and what folks have planned for that evening or the next morning, and whether anyone is visiting, etc.

Hope to meet you one of these days ...

Sweetwater Tavern's fine by me - I've been to the one on 50/Gallow's Road before & it's decent food & good beer. I'll update the first page.

Hmmm.. lasso, calf tying and beer - Count me in!

So would this be like a second January Happy Hour - for those of us who cant make it for the first one?

Where are you guys looking to meet?

If you are looking for suggestions close to the airport how about someplace in Reston/Herndon just off the Airport Access/Toll Road?
American Tap Room, Ned Divines or any other joint at Reston Town Center?

Also in Sterling (and now Ashburn) there is the Buffalo Wing Factory if people are interested in really pigging out

That's more or less it - .. a second and very 'un-official' January DC get together lunch Saturday January 29th for anyone not able to make the "official" one at Stellas next week. Or ... for those who like drinking and talking flying and travel, to make BOTH.

I've been to more DC get-togethers than many FT'ers living around there, and always look forward to meeting the really great bunch of folks who get along. We have 12,000 miles to fly in for this, and sadly, booked the flight after the Jan 12 date was set.

Reston does sound best option, as I will book the Sheraton Reston for the night Jan 28. As I'll get a late check-out as SPG Gold, we can grab a quick shower before sitting on planes that afternoon after the lunch for 20+ hours to SYD. So eating close to Sheraton would be perfect, so we can bum a ride back to Hotel from some kind soul after lunch.

About 12.30pm sounds about right on timing. Any thoughts on a FT suitable venue folks?

IMHO Clyde's or Rio Grande at Reston Town Center would be good for the OzLunch...

Rio Grande sounds good to me! Doing a quick Google search, it seems to get good reviews as well...

Will - - was Clyde's at Reston Town Center the place we went to a year or so back, where the unannounced guest was kokonutz? And bhatnasx showered us all with black leather Marriott bag tags?

Wherever that dinner was held, I think we even drew Otto Graham out of FT anonymity to join us too?

If so that was a pretty good place IIRC. ^

Merci Beaucoup.

I do recall getting hotel rides from the Lindners, gleff, gnagnet, DHacker, G2 and the zipper and others too in the past couple years, so I on reflection pass thru IAD much more than I should.

If the OZ-man's in town, I'll crawl out from under my rock. Actually, its usually harder to get me back under my rock than out from under it.
