If newbies are accepted for attendance at these events, I'd love to join you! I had to be out of town at the last minute for the happy hour I last tried to attend.

Absolutely! As long as you pay the tab, make sure everyone gets home safely, and bring us gifts from your most recent travels, you're in! Oh, of course, you have to pass all our hazing rituals, too... this is what we do for all newbies.
Hee hee... kidding, of course. Newbies are always welcome! The DC group is a very friendly and interesting bunch of people. I attended my first event just this year and have been to at least 5 or 6 since then but compared to some folks, I'm still quite a "newbie" myself. One of the things that impressed me the most from the beginning was how nice and genuinely helpful and welcoming the metro DC area group is as a whole. You'll enjoy meeting everyone, and we'll enjoy meeting you!

Cool guys!
I promise not to make El Boocho have to drive me back to Arlington this time either... I should be doing an award stay downtown.
Where is GreggWiggins? Does he know we are talking Brickskeller without him?

May I interrupt this thread for a shameless plug of a future invasion?

I'll be arriving in town from AMS that afternoon and I think markbach was going to come in as well.
I realize it is a Sunday night, but surely we can count the holidays as extra festive and start the week off right?

I think I'm actually going to stay out by Dulles on Sunday night actually since I've discovered that the Phillips is closed on Monday. I'll still plan on driving in... but could any locals give me some decent driving/parking directions? I can do okay navigating DC streets... it is the parking that kills me every time!
Oh well... that just means I'll be forced to make a run out to DC some weekend in early January before the Calder/Miro exhibit closes. I *KNEW* I just should have gone to Basel this summer to see it!

As for directions everyone probably has an opinion on this but, I think the easiest is: Toll Road to 66 across the bridge, and take the lefthand exit toward the E Street Expressway. Exit the ramp to the Expressway (righthand exit) and make a left on 18th Street (2nd light). 18th to CT Ave. Left on CT Ave. Go around Dupont circle (stay on top of the circle, don't go under) and make a right on P Street. Then make a right on 22nd.

Would love to join you guys at the brickskeller.
I will be driving in from Centreville, VA - so anyone need a designated driver/drive share from that area - I volunteer.
Edited - To remove directions. Didnt notice they were already there in a previous post. No need to confuse people with slightly different directions.

Thats true we villagers don't know much about pressing big city issues like potholes and whats that big phrase you people keep mentioning....ahh thats right..."parking nightmares!"
Although on second thoughts I guess I am better of ignorant about these things.
This looks like it will be a fun Happy Hour!
Just in case someone is planning to be in the city slightly earlier - this seems to be interesting - http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp...&type=allevent
