A ladyfriend and I are passing via IAD to Puerto Rico on the evening of Jan 21 for an overnight, and back again arriving 8.30pm Friday evening Jan 28.
If anyone happens to be around IAD area for lunch on Sat Jan 29, please let's know as we do not fly back home via LAX until 4.28pm that afternoon.

I plan on finding a new place in March or April based on work....currently the drive from Fairfax to Bethesda everyday and back is terrible. I spend about 2.5 hours a day in a car! At least when I lived in Ballston, I was going against the flow of traffic!
I'm not familiar with Fairfax Corner or the restaurant, Pranu - where is Fairfax Corner? I know Tysons & Seven Corners, but not Fairfax Corner! I think there's a Fairfax Circle area (off of 50/29 intersection) and there's a Fairfax Square off of 236 near Fair City Mall, but in the 24 years I've lived in northern VA, I've never heard of Fairfax Corner!

As for where fairfax corner is, it's between Fair Oaks Mall and the Government Center. As you drive 66 to between the mall and Fair Lakes, if you look to the side across from the mall, you'll see the shopping area, movie theatre and office building. You need to loop around using Monument (off West Ox which is off 50) to get here.
If anyone wants to do a happy hour at Rio Grande or Coastal Flats another time, let me know.

Grevey's sounds good to me (never heard of it, never been there, but if GoingAway likes it, it must be good!) - any particular date? I'm thinking for the February Happy Hour. I'll be traveling the weekend of 2/4 & Presidents Day weekend (8-segment MR with 2 RJ's!) - but the rest of the month is good for me!

Its a big Redskins and Hokies hang out. Was there yesterday for the Sugar bowl - was good fun to support the Auburn tigers as they thrashed the hokies! Was lucky to not be kicked out of the place.
Feb is too far out to plan right now for me at least - but sure count me in tentatively for now.

Didn't you also take the group picture at Brickskeller with your camera?

- The brews are GREAT. Although they only have 5 of them on tap during any given time period.
- The food menu is quite limited - but everything is good. I normally order the Chicken breast on angel hair pasta with sundried tomatoes everytime I go to one their locations (which is quite often). hmmm... am hungry.. when are we doing this?
- Haven't really tried the desserts so can't say much.
- They don't take reservations - but they do take call aheads. So on the day of us meeting if we do have a count I can do the call ahead. But they also do not seat you untill all of your party are present
Other than that I think that complex also has a Pizzeria Uno, Panda Express
and some other place - which I have never really paid attention to.Also trying to think of any other locations this side of the country that might be interesting.
PS - The Sweet Water Tavern is also there in Centreville
and is run by the same chain that owns Coastal Flats.

My vote is for Sweet Water at 50/Gallows - that works for me (and tastes better than Greveys) ... sorry about the loss of iDine points for this one
Looks like I might be going back on the road for work so I'm not sure if I'll be in town but based on other travel, the week of February 7th looks best. If we can pick a Monday or Friday, I'll have a better chance of making it.

I love Sweetwater!
I'll have plenty of time for idine points at Grevey's during the playoffs....
I'm hoping to join you for a happy hour after several missed attempts.

I should be around on the 29th & I recently moved closer to IAD (although I miss being 5 minutes from DCA!). I'll post on the first page.
Yoo Hoo. ^ ^
Thanks Sam ... well we now have the nucleus for an IAD area lunch on Saturday January 29th. Anyone else likely to be about then?? Be great to catch up for a few of the familiar DC faces once again.
A semi-official and totally un-endorsed sub-group meeting of the Monthly DC Happy Hours Inc.
I wonder if that well known cattle rancher Mileage Addict can be enticed off his 5,000 acre spread to come down into the big smoke for the occasion?
