in f, you wnn't save much by buying in china, but you will buy a little flexibility. however, y for $50 is pretty much impossible to attain outside of china.

edited to add: i can show you many things to do with an extra 150 in beijing.

Don't you just hate it when you get woken up in the wee hours of the morning? I was awaken this morning to the following....

This is a United Easy Update with a seat upgrade message. Your upgrade from SFO-PVG has cleared :D

Sounds like a great wakeup call - especially given std4fish's post of last week, with 25 on the WL at the gate for SFO-PVG. He, at 15, did not clear.

Ride, anyone?

I'm on the UAL Thursday SFO-PVG flight arriving Friday evening. I'm going to call the Westin Shanghai and arrange pickup since we get in around midnight after the maglev is closed. Just checking to see who else is at the Westin and wants to share the ride.

Let me know.

i suggest you get a taxi: less $, less hassels. however, be sure to give the driver the address. although less common these days, some taxis will still take you to the hongqiao sheraton, which used to be a westin before the new westin was born.

Thanks, I know it'll be more to reserve the car but it's worth the money to me to not have to worry about where I'm going or whether I'm being taken for a ride.

Get those winter clothes ready! Less than 4 weeks to go. :)

While in principle I am fine with sharing a limo, I am wondering whether we are on different flights? My SFO-PVG flight arrives at 19:30. :)

i am willing to personally guarantee, to the tune of a bottle of champagne at guandi, that you won't be taken for a ride. just print out the following before you leave and you'll be ok.

上海威斯汀大饭店
河南中路88号
phone: 6335 1888

in the extremely unlikely event that problems arise, ask the concierge for assistance upon arival. in no case, will you have to part with more than y200.

off topic: in looking at the westin web site, i'm amazed at how much the brunch prices have climbed during the past 2 years.

As does my UA flight arriving the earlier day. Perhaps this post is a consequence of Deb having an all night pool party in SIN. ;)

izzik Jan 18, 2005 1:47 pm

Or maybe it was all that murtabak. :D

Okay, Okay ... so it's get some sleep AND look at the itinerary after one trip when talking about the next one. SIN was the really late night arrival not PVG. :p That means we get to ride the Maglev into town.

In Beijing, however, I am going with the airport pickup -- it's a lot easier and I want to get to that shopping stuff.

Rob - Please include me in on list for drinks at the Hyatt Friday night :)

izzik Jan 18, 2005 2:15 pm

Unfortunately, no. The Maglev only runs from 8:30am-5:30pm. :td:

I thought it was later. :( Now I'm back to reserving the car for a lift downtown. Anyone coming along for the ride?
