It was rather disconcerting to leave the passports with no receipt or anything, but when I asked, they did let me copy down a "case number." Still, this is a real pain in the neck. Some web page I read said that if you have a round trip air ticket and exit/enter via Pudong in less than 48 hours, you can get a visa on arrival. Wonder if that still applies, it seemed current? Rather short, but maybe would work for some. Just general info from me, as of right now, alas, I don't think I can make this event! |

One can also get Chinese visas at most travel agents but it's costlier. If you get it yourself at the Chinese consulate (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), it will be cheaper but will take longer. Plus, the 6 month visas there requires one to exit every 30 days. The PSB (Public Security Bureau) 6 month visas lets one stay on the ground for the whole 6 months. I get my PSB visas at JTB... Well, will advise by this weekend with details and price charts. |

But ok, I am going to be in HKG Oct 7th to 30th again so I will definitely get my China visa then. I need to go to China during this trip anyway. Sorry about that folks... :D Promise to advise the week of Oct 7th. |

Ok here is the HKG visa info...not JTS but JTA
Japan Travel Agency
Rm 507-513, 5th Floor, East Ocean Center, 98 Granville Rd, Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon. (852) 2369 8908/2368 9151 Email: [email protected] not sure about the email so better to call. Open: Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, Sat 8:45am-12pm 1 year multi entry business (F) visa for HK$950 same day and HK$750 next day service. Must have 3 entry/exit visas to China prior...but I think this is "flexible" if you get the priority service. Just ask. Of course, if you do not qualify for the 1 year, get the 6 month Visa. Remember to ask for the Public Security Bureau (PSB) issued visa. edited to add: this is the same agency I have been using for years (I know where it is and always just go...couldn't remember the name and address until I found a receipt recently). There are absolutely no problems with US passports being serviced here for China visas. |
Thanks
OK, I think it is time to get started on the party planning... I'll get a website up and running soon. So go ahead and email me with your travel plans..

Already reserved
A little roundabout trip but it was cheap:
2/14 AA448 OAK-DFW (staying overnite in Dallas, first time ever) 2/15 AA61 DFW-NRT 2/16 NH149 HND-KIX (Staying 2 nites in Osaka, another first) 2/18 NH155 KIX-PVG 2/21 NH156 PVG-KIX (Staying one more nite in Osaka) 2/22 AA7244 ITM-NRT 2/22 AA176 NRT-DFW 2/22 AA1259 DFW-OAK I used the $500 (all incl) AA KIX fare and was able to route it thru DFW for a lot more miles. KIX-PVG-KIX is a 20,000 mile award from USAir on NH, since the fares from Japan to PVG were about $400. UPG's on the AA metal over the water. I still haven't decided where to stay, but I'll probably try out the Hyatt. |
well i am glad my ticket is only a sector each way... ouch.
glad to see someone is thinking of hyatt - should mean less hassle getting a table in the sky bar on the very top floor ;) |

Graeme Looking forward to the website. Thanks for the effort ^ ^ ^ |
UA ex-ORD is still pricing out M fares at $1700.... :( I'll be there even if it's an award ticket!

Our 6mth multiple entry visas were renewed in HK today (we are UK passport holders and live here). Ouch ! The price has gone up from HK$700 to just over HK$1,000. That means a lot more trips over to Shenzhen for shopping to justify the outlay think. ;)

2-year multi entry
I am tired of getting a China visa every 6 months or worst yet, every trip to China. I just sent a letter to my company in China asking for a 2-year multi entry invitation letter. The new 2-year multi entry visa will cost my company $US150 plus a $US48 handling fee.
