<Hand up in the air, waving>

Would you, by any chance, be needing anyone who speaks Shanghainese, sir?

Ok, then I shall bring hubby. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Peut-etre!

I have never been to Shanghai and would love to go there and stay high up in the air at the Hyatt or enjoy a nice stay at the new St.Regis.

Why the 'or'-- as a longtime FT'er wouldn't you want to split your stay for both Hyatt/Starwood stay credits? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Wo gan va lei Sanheiwo....

but heck yeah I am in.

My second home in Asia.

Planning assitance hereby offered.

Only downside is the 2237 miles I get on ANA getting there. Unless I go through SFO? Now there is a thought. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Notice how 7 of the 8 FTers who have responded were in HKG with GK this past weekend. We know a good host! I admit it - I'm a GK and Sean groupie. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Where they lead, I will follow.

BTW, for those of us holding American passports, China requires a visa. I think that we have to acquire it within 90 days of entering the country. Our passports have to be taken to a Chinese consulate for processing; they cannot be mailed in. China does this because we impose a similar requirement on the Chinese. This means (for those of us who don't live in consular cities) that we must use a visa service who will walk in the passport, or we should get our visas if visiting an international destination with a Chinese embassy.

Here are details on Chinese visas.

We do know a good thing, don't we. GK and Sean - you're great!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/starsmilie.gif

From the visa site:

If you cannot come personally, you may entrust someone else or a travel/visa agent to come to the visa office ...

Way in advance I know, but as I'm in DC I'd be willing to walk anyone's passport in with my own for the visa when we get closer to the date.

I was just about to post this http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

GK Feb 18, 2004 6:46 pm

Thanks Carol. I should add that Chinese Visas are available in 1/2/3 days in HKG depending on how much you want to pay to rush it through. You do not have to be resident in Hong Kong to obtain a visa here.

Looking at the carrier listing above, I can see a lot of potential for Star or OneWorld RTWs..

Oh and did I say how excited I am about the Maglev train at PVG ? Or should I have kept that to myself ?
