fmi on the maglev do a search for maglev on "shanghai maglev". the terminus is at longyang road, which is inconvenient for just about every except for smic employees.

sha is much closer than pvg to most parts of shanghai, including lujiazui. however, i usually fly out of pvg if i have time because i find the experience far less stressful. plus, public transit to/from pvg is pretty good.

by that standard, def go with sha. by my count, there are currently 32 flights per weekday ex-sha v. 4 ex-pvg. following is schedule for 2-21:

OK, purely from a comfort and risk management basis, i'd take the CA services on the 747s - as the aircraft are less likely to be delayed up country in some remote town earlier in the day perhaps ?

Bob (rbAA) is arriving thursday, he's staying at Grand Hyatt in Pudong, and really the bar up at the top of the hotel is an absolute must, so please can you post here if you're keen to meet from drinks Fri night after dinner, suggest about 9pm? Reason being, Bob has to reserve a table.

Sunday, after lunch, Mad4Miles and I are heading out to Hangzhou, staying at the new Hyatt there. I have to leave PVG Monday at 5:15pm, so a day trip and overnight. A Hangzhou mini-DO?

We're having a Suzhou mini-Do on Friday, so an enterprising FTer could bracket the Shanghai weekend with the two most interesting area cities. Magic111, Jerrie, kluau88, and I are headed to the Suzhou Sheraton on arrival at PVG on Thursday night.

Seems that we can leave Suzhhou and get to Festivities for Friday night. Contrary to rumors posted in someone´s blog :) I do not drink but I do enjoy the company of those who have traveled a long distance to meet once again in another place.
Please put Jerrie and I down for the Hyatt on Friday. ^

Did I mention I purchased my ticket the other day on my way to SIN (eh...I mean HKG). I guess I'll go to the Air China office in SFO to get my SHA-PEK ticket :)

if you do that, you"ll be paying up to 2x market value.... better off to wait till you get to sh. you could even wait till that saturday because most hotel travel agencies (+ctrip) have weekend hours.
