Welcome svpii. I've never gotten any junk email from participating on this board. Glad you added an email address.
Welcome to you, too ORD12 and ElmhurstNick. You two have been around, I must say. You're both very welcome additions to this group.

Ok, I'll jump in.
I am in my mid-thirties, married, father of 2 small boys and live in the Great State of Texas.
I travel approximately 2 to 3 weeks a month for business, exclusively domestic, about 80k to 100k miles/year. I am a big CO fan and cringe when I have to fly any other airlines.
I am a diehard baseball fan, particularly the Cleveland Indians, and try to see games in every city I go to.
I am not a very active poster on FT, but I like to contribute when I believe what I have to say could be helpful to someone. Sense of humor is important to me, and I really appreciate some of the humor of some of the folks around here, especially since online humor can be difficult.
I guess that's it.

svpii, hope the work went well at least. Were the facilities to your liking, kids aside? Did you ensure you got the goldpoints as well?

Just giving notice here as well
Ive copied all the pages from the WWAA 1 --> WWAA 7 threads into a text file which allows you to search for a particular username and see if he/she has posted their bio.
See my separate thread for more info. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/000503.html

Thanks for the kind welcome everyone! Rudi, I truly appreciate you including the link to PremEx's trip to Switzerland. What a fantastic trip report! It inspired me to attempt my first TR -- a brief business trip to Rome. Hope everyone enjoys it!
By the way, I printed out and just finished reading every single Who We Are threads (yes, it took a few days!). Interesting how this all evolved, but I must admit, as a newbie I was disappointed that I didn't find bios on some of the most "famous" FlyerTalkers. Come on FTEvangelists, let's get some insight on you as well!
Keep up the great posts everyone! I look forward to reading and learning more!

Oh man how rude do I feel. I have been somewhat of a contributor on the boards for the past few months but have never made the time to introduce myself. (How rude!)
Anyways, I feel that I am one of the younger FT'ers out there ranking at the age of 23. Graduated from college 2 years ago and found myself traveling to Texas very frequently for a year. I found an affinity for collecting miles on AA. In Sept. 99, I made the move from NJ back to the Philly area where I went to school. I have since found my itineraries booked on US due to their HUB in PHL and I don't regret that mistake at all.
I am a software consultant by trade. But for fun, I am an active rower for Malta Boat Club in Philly. I also love top attend live music concerts and trading live tapes/mp3s of bands, mostly Phish.
I was introduced to the board in March due to the "Pudding Guy's" hype and the article that was in Time. That's how I got here, but the FT community is why I have stayed!
I plan on moving to SEA in Sept 2000, and I am anxiously looking forward to starting over (again) somewhere completely different. Again, I'd like to thank everyone who has answered my questions and for everyone else for being who you are. I apologize for my delinquency in posting here. Please forgive!

Here it goes:
I found this group just a few weeks ago through the newsgroup rec.travel.air. Someone referred to this group in a thread about the new rules for Delta FF. I replyed to a post and found that I was a "Junior Member". That was enough incentive to hunt all the threads to see where I could spread my "wisdom" just so I could graduate
. It only took me about a week to become a "Member". Now, let's see how many years it is going to take to be an "Evangelist"
That said, it's should be clear that I am a Delta flyer. Platinum for the fourth year now, but a Medallion member since I switched over (or was I forced to switch over) from Pan Am. I had had Platinum status on Pan AM for a couple of years prior to that, but IIRC, Platinum on PA was only 50K miles back then.
Those were the days of travel! $99 fare from LAX to JFK in coach. Upgrade one class when you book the ticket and get to the airport with the standard question: "There can't be that many people on this flight. Is there a chance you can upgrade me
" So there I was, flying FC across the country for $99!
But, I am getting ahead of myself. My real name is Per, but I am tired of the butching of the pronunciation (it should sound like the opposite of "Apple"
) so I mostly use Pete here in the US. I was born too many years ago in Southern Sweden (55 years ago - AARP, here I come
). I came to the US in 1980 and has been in Southern California (SNA is my home "base") ever since, except for a year in Texas.
My commercial flying started on a Convair Metropolitan back in the 60's on a Swedish domestic flight on "Linjeflyg", which is now gone and maybe forgotten (both the plane and the carrier). I had managed to sneak in a flight on a glider at the home-town flying club without my parents' knowledge (I knew they were going to say no) before that.
My really serious flying started in the late 70's when I got a temporary assignment in Australia for a year. I managed to get 3 RTW trips in during that year with stopovers in different places all times. I also flew around Australia on a three week vacation.
That qualified me for FT membership on Pan Am long before the current FF craze had started. Back in those days, there was no Business Class, but PA had reserved the front coach cabin on the 747's for their FT members. We were normally just a few travellers in there, so it was nice and quiet with plenty of room for everyone. Back in those days it was common to have a full row of seats to yourself, so lying down to sleep was easy.
My travel nowadays is mostly within the US and between US and Sweden (4-6 times a year). That is enough to qualify for PM, which I like
The handle, finally, is in tribute to what I think is the classiest plane in the air today. It is also the first wide-body I flew. A flight on Brittish between Stockholm and London way back when these birds were new.
I think I better stop there for now. I'll let you know when I become "Evangelist"
/Pete

welcome - and HEJA HEJA SVERIGE again
(I am sooooooooo jealous about the popularity the Swedes have in the U.S.A. - compared to us swiss. Some twenty years ago, in Atlanta, when I introduced myself to a Coca-Cola manager as a swiss he answered - oh yes, I know Bjorn Borg ...).
(sorry - Rudi's second post with Gisela's handle. She used this iBook before me).

Thanks for the welcomes!
BlondeBomber: Yes, the years brings a lot of memories and great stories (some not so great - imagine risking to be stranded on Tonga over Christmas
)
Gisela: You think you have a problem being mixed up with Swedes? I can't remember how many times I've been told we make nice watches in Sweden
/Pete

Hi. This is my very first post on FlyerTalk
but I am reading it every single day for a
long time. I really like it but it's kind of
addicting too. You folks really travel alot
and I learn more each day from so many people
here. I am retired but still travel pretty
much everywhere I can and with so much to
learn I plan to be here for a long time. Thank you everyone for all of your time and
effort to educate us.

Have a few spare moments at work so thought I would jump in with a few details about myself.
Ever since I was young I have loved to travel... loved airplanes, loved staying in hotels, loved running around cities. In fact I scared my parents half to death in London by leaving the hotel to explore while everyone else was sleeping off jetlag (this was at age nine). Read about this board appropriately enough on a business trip where I flew first class for the first time and experienced my first airport lounge (where I saw no free food). Lurked for a few weeks and started posting. Have greatly appreciated all the advice I have received and hopefully will be able to give some in the future!
Like chexfan, I think I'm one of the younger posters at 23 and am greatly jealous of all the trips I read about. I live in Santa Monica now but previously lived in San Francisco. And moved to there from Texas. I work in retail and travel mainly for business to visit clients (mostly to Chicago). Manage to work in a few long trips here and there (planning a trip to Australia in the next two years, Hawaii this year, and Thailand next year) but mainly short hops ro visit friends and family. Working on gold on American but no other status yet
.
Besides travel, in my spare time I love to cook (huge foodie, I consider eating at the French Laundry to be the high point of last year, besides meeting my boyfriend of course
), follow baseball (Rangers fan) and basketball (Kings and Lakers fan) religiously, read, and swim (floating in the water at the beach might be a better description), checking out flyertalk and surfing for miles/points... **** you all for getting me addicted.
Really appreciate this board and everyone who posts on it. Looking forward to meeting some of you in person when there's a flyertalk meet in LA.
