Missy,
Thanks for organising the Paris DO. It was great to meet you and the others. I was glad I could witness your first experience with crme fraiche!

Elsie's feet hurt today because Puck's theory that you can still get a taxi AFTER the Mtro stops and BEFORE the bars close didn't prove true and I walked all the way back to my barn in Montmartre!

I hope every everyone got home safely.
Bye,
Elsie

It must have been quite some time!

I tried to call 3 or 4 times last night during the dinner hour but just got a rude French robot-woman instead of missydarlin

I guess she made up for it by accidentally calling my # not less than thirteen times this morning. What could she have been doing that caused her to repeatedly mash the "1" button on her phone without knowing it? The mind reels...

Me too, I failed to find an available cab at Rue de Rivoli, and ended up taking the Noctambus.

But apart from that I was fun and I enjoyed meeting you all. A la prochaine fois...

missydarlin, thanks indeed for organizing a very enjoyable evening, I had a great time! Someone should have snapped a photo of your desert encounter.

Elsie and airoli, sorry about the bad taxi advice. What do I know, I walked home. Though I had less distance to cover. At least the weather was starting to turn nice...

Hope everyone had a good trip back.

Bises,
Albert

Well, what a fun evening with a fabulous crowd. Thank you all for your company.

Predictably, after leading the group astray into a late night drinking den in Saint Germain (we got to the hotel at 4am IIRC...) I slept through my alarm but still managed to get out to CDG on the RER just in time for boarding. Felt terrible at work all day.

Thank you missydarlin for organizing this and allowing other FTers to join you for dinner. Gamin de Paris was a great choice. I enjoyed meeting everyone. I'm only sorry I had to leave so early - that is, at 2 am! Fortunately I chose a hotel at Arts et Metiers, only a 10 minute walk away. I just got back to RNO.

I agree with airoli: A la prochaine fois - this is French I can understand!

What AJ has forgotten to mention is that particular late night drinking den happened to be where Nick Nolte was also doing some after hours drinking

Uncaptioned and mostly unedited PHOTOS for your viewing pleasure. Photos of actual people start on page 5

I just want to thank everyone for coming out and making my xmas shopping weekend so much more memorable.

Special thanks to JayBrian and DLNewbie for being my personal luggage valets this morning. It would have been an ugly trip to the airport without you guys!

Had good food, great time and greater company. And of course, now that most of you are gone, the weather has turned to gorgeous!

Missy, Thank You! There are only 2 things I regret about this weekend; not getting Brian BoaTano into skates at the Hotel de Ville , and not shopping more. Why aren't the stores in Paris open at 8am on Sundays!!!!

Thanks to all. Great meeting you/seeing you again. Sounds like I missed quite a bit of fun after dinner by wussing out to catch the last metro back to La Defense.

I woke up this morning itching all over. And my bathing trunks stank to high heaven. *Something* must have been in the Jacuzzi but the hotel manager had it checked out and cholorine levels were OK. Beyond that he didn't seem to care too much but suggested I buy some cream. Thanks, Paris hospitality

P.S. The "Italian" place across from Hippo and Pizza Hut is a bad idea unless you enjoy watching servers bi*ch at each other about opening a bottle of wine.

watching him carry around a pink barbie purse was way better than seeing him in skates
