Milwaukee Aug. 7

Visitng Midwest Airlines to talk miles but schedule hangs me up overnight. Any local or visitng FlyerTalk members want to talk miles - I'm all ears... and opnions. Will probably treat for a drink and the food that made Milwaukee famous (fish frys?).

For the chance to meet "the" Randy, I would gladly drive to Milwaukee! But alas...I'm flying out to IND late that afternoon.

I was hoping to meet you at the Kentuckey Derby this year, but had last minute emergencies.

Aug 7th works great for me, I'll make the drive.

PS: Any NW or N suburban Chicago FT'ers who would like a ride, email me. I'll be taking I-94 north to Milwaukee, WI from ORD.

edited to add: PPS: the Serb Hall in MKE serves a great fish fry, but I believe that it is only during the weekends, I'll check and get back to this thread.

What a better prelude to MKE on Aug 7....than watching the pride of Wisconsin- the Green Bay Packers on Aug 4 700p at Hall of Fame game in Canton. I'll make the detour well worth your while!!

Will you arrive MKE Aug 6 or stay through Aug 8??

It all depends on the timing here. As soon as a time is set, I can make a decision. Would love to meet Randy and others if the stars are in alignment. What's with all these ORD folk going to MKE?

Please mark me as tentative. I currently have tentative plans to visit MKE during this time. Looking forward to meeting you and some of the other FTers!

BTW - I would say that famous food in MKE consists of brats and beer!

I'm in Milwaukee on Thursday and would love to meet up. Fish fries are a traditional Friday event and usually not found on a Thursday. That said, there are lots of great options (Sweet Willie could advise), and as I'm sure you all know, Milwaukee does have all the great dining experiences one expects of any city

Looking forward to it!

Edited to add: I'm sure someone in MKE will come forward with some thoughts as to venue, if not, I'd be happy to look into it.

YES!
Finally something worth doing in Milwaukee!
Been meaning to make it down to a Chicago-do, but this one, I can definitely manage.

Will gather suggestions on fish fry places for a Thursday...as was noted it's a Friday thing but there's gotta be one around.
<if another cuisine is chosen perhaps I can be of more help--I haven't been in town much and fish frys have been lower on my list than some of the new Japanese/Latin American/other places that have popped up in the years I was gone>

Italian sounds good and so does a restaurant someone recommended to me called "Palms". But hey, I'm easy, so come gather round FlyerTalkers wherever you roam....

Don't know Palms, but I found a fish fry on a Thursday...the Centennial is the place. It's noisy but good food, located on the north side of town.
Bartolotta's is also definitely one of the higher rated places in town.
In summary: you're the visitor, you make the choice! I'll be there wherever you decide.

WOW, a "mini" due in MKE. Certainly ORD North would hint at MKE being the home base, so count Mr. ORD North & Mrs. in. As MKE-MR calls out, your the guest in the area and you make the call. My "neck of the woods" is the northern Milwaukee/Ozaukee County area and I think much would depend on your lodging location and time frame. Wonderful B&B in Cedarburg, alas no point earning, but does beat the heck out of "another night in a cookie cutter hotel room."
