Yes, I'm married even though I am mostly Oneworld and she is Star Alliance....somehow we manage to make it work.

What is up in the air? The date, or the location (or both).

VJ - I'm finally back in town! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

When/where is the next gathering?

Thanks,
David

Alysia Mar 4, 2003 3:21 pm

Time is getting closer to when we're supposed to have our next gathering and there hasn't been any decision made as to where and when. So here's my suggestion: How about the evening of March 12 at Legal Seafood at Reagan National? Yes? No?

johnep1 Mar 4, 2003 4:13 pm

I would love to attend but cannot make it on the 12th (my birthday!!!) I hope that everyone has a good time and I hope to join in the fun in April.

GoingAway Mar 4, 2003 9:08 pm

If we're doing airports, any possibility of having it at Dulles? I'm flying in that afternoon!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I thought this month was Maryland's turn -- anyone know of someplace in Bethesda?

Dulles isn't on the metro line.

We may be doing Maryland in April for the weekend dinner. Some folks a little further out wanted a weekend meal as they can't make it during the week. Tazi suggested a restaurant near an old airfield.

The dinner at the airfield will likely not be until May. It seems there is quite a bit of interest in dinner near the old airport from folks outside our area. Catman suggested I start another thread for it which I will do very soon. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I am still going to try and make one of the Happy Hours when they are held in Maryland.

If that's going to be the time and the place, I'd like to join you guys (I'm flying into DCA around 6:30 that evening).

lmlinder Mar 5, 2003 7:57 pm

Yes, I believe there was just a Dulles happy hour on Friday...at Clyde's in Reston (as Koko mentioned).

When is the next DC Happy Hour? The dates seem to be waivering in this thread.

hilton-gold Mar 7, 2003 7:56 am

I am new to the HH circuit and am wondering in anyone will be at IAD on Saturday (3/8) afternoon. I have Admirals Club and UA RCC access if anyone wants to meet in any of those places or elsewhere in the airport. I am thinking 3 - 5ish, if that corresponds with anyone's schedules. I would enjoy meeting some of you.

I know that they don't take reservations, but I've never seen a line at the door at the DCA Legal Seafoods (I often stop there for a quick chowder when flying into DCA, typically around the very same time). Once we've even had a small FT gathering there when Randy was flying through, and there was plenty of space, both sitting at the bar and outside as well.

But I don't have much of a problem with the Chevy's at Pentagon City either (other than the fact that they don't serve the clam chowder http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ), so, unless my flight gets delayed, I'll see you there.

Alysia Mar 7, 2003 10:16 am

Chevy's is actually where I meet with some other friends one Friday night a month.

The plan sounds good to me.

Early arrivals can meet at the bar. $1 off margaritas and half-price appetizers till 7 pm.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the location, Chevy's is just across the street from Pentagon City Mall (specifically Nordstrom's).

Viajero Joven Mar 7, 2003 1:44 pm

We've been bumped..... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif No vouchers or anything.

Chevy's called me and said they already booked 2 other groups, one for 30 and one for 41, so they can't accommodate our reservation.

So.................

Too bad it's not tomorrow since I am flying into DCA. I'll try my best to make it.

bdschobel Mar 10, 2003 4:37 pm

I'm flying into DCA Thursday morning, back out Friday morning, back in Friday evening and back out again Saturday evening. Whew! But unfortunately, I won't be there Wednesday! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Have fun, I wish I could make it.

dlnewbie Mar 12, 2003 12:48 pm

Sorry I can't make it this time. Got in yesterday from Italy and am still a little tired. I promise I'll be there next month

IAH_FLYER Mar 12, 2003 1:26 pm

Sorry to go off topic...but it looks like the Post article was picked up by a few other papers. It showed up in the Travel section of the Houston Chronicle on Sunday. You guys are (in)famous!

Alysia Mar 12, 2003 1:40 pm

I'll be there but I have to leave about 7:30 so you will have to excuse my rudeness of ordering something to eat when I arrive.

Viajero Joven Mar 12, 2003 1:48 pm

No problem Alysia... you're presence is the important thing. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif We'll cross paths for a few minutes, anyways.

I'll be there in the neighborhood of 7... I stay in the office until 6:30.

See you guys there.

El Boocho Mar 12, 2003 4:22 pm

Looks like I'm going to miss out again. The 5.5 hour commute from EBF PA is too far. Catch y'all next time, I hope.

El Boocho Mar 16, 2003 9:55 am

Does anyone care to post a report about the turnout etc. at the last Happy Hour? I've missed the last few, and want to make sure thisgs aren't falling apart without me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

FWIW, I didn't get there until almost 7:30 PM. Total number of people who showed up was six, including myself. It was smaller than I had expected of the previous happy hours; I assume that others had prior engagements or couldn't make it. The view from the table was great; we were right above the gates and could see planes taxing into and out of the gates.

Vijaero Joven and I adjourned to a coffee place at the end of the terminal after dinner to carry on our conversations about mileage runs. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Tayd - thanks for the update.

That was about the same as last time. Sorry that I couldn't make it, especially since I have been an advocate of doing it at DCA. I simply had too much work and have been out flying too much.

Any talk about the next one?

dlnewbie Mar 17, 2003 12:01 pm

I'm game for anywhere .. DC, VA, the airport.

Just let me know when and I'll try my best to be there

Is 4/19 still on? I have just firmed up my schedule for the next few months and it looks I'll still be in BWI in April.
