Any details where we meet at M&S. The bar, reserved table? Funny hats or FTer tags? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Besides, if you're worried about the wacko shooting people down in the DC area and the Metro, that might be the safest thing for you to do. So far, nobody's been shot at a Metro stop.</font>
I was more concerned about the walk from the parking lot at Greenbelt to the actual station.

I still plan on coming though http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Umm....

I work down the street from M&S-- and the first time I went, I couldn't find it because the directions I had were wrong.....

I'd swear it's between 16th and 17th on H St.

Viajero Joven Oct 15, 2002 7:06 am

Update to my own post.

Following a phone call to the restaurant:

There are 2 M&S Grills-- indeed one is on 16th/17th and H, and the other is 13th and F.....

See you guys at the 13th and F location.

mdtony Oct 15, 2002 9:57 am

Well, you can go to the other one if you want, but I will be at the one by Metro Center. Let's meet at the bar tomorrow, and I will let you know what I am wearing day of. Some of you know me anyway, so that will make things easier on you.

See you in a few days!

kokonutz Oct 16, 2002 11:29 am

Oh, you guys are KILLING me! Due to pressing and critical business in LAS on the 18th, my tomorrow evening is shot. Crap. Well, next time....

US_CP_FLYER Oct 17, 2002 5:56 am

Actually there's only one M&S Grill the other is a McCormick and Schmicks - they are related, but the M&S as noted is at 13th and F. It can be confusing. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

As for Koko I find it hard to believe that he'll actually be in LAS on business. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

(edited to add) Oh Yeah - new temporary handle because of US GOM posts - sorry.

Will be there tonight though.

In case mdtony doesn't post.... and having spent time searching in a bar for an FT group myself.....

I will definitely wear a navy jacket with a red Roots Canada cap. The cap should stand out.

See you guys tonight.

tazi Oct 17, 2002 7:56 am

I'm on 'maybe' status now. Have to work late so not sure if I will get out of here on time to get down there or not http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

mdtony Oct 17, 2002 8:59 am

I will have on black pants, and a grey/green sweater. I will not be able to stay for too long and thanks to a hockey game that I have tonight, I won't be able to drink. But I'll be happy to say hello to all of you folks!

kokonutz Oct 17, 2002 10:38 am

Hey, I never said if it was "personal" business or professional...let's just say I am going there to make some "investments".

Just what are you up to down there, koko?? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

whlinder Oct 17, 2002 2:35 pm

Koko mentioned in Omni he is 'investing' in the performance of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the Virginia Tech Hokies this weekend.

( Two teams that I despise, BTW )

dlnewbie Oct 17, 2002 9:34 pm

I feel bad i didn't make it .. I was looking forward to meeting the other DC area FTalkers, but got hung up with the co-workers at Montgomery Grille... but I'm definitely in for the next get together

idealflyer Oct 18, 2002 6:03 am

Thanks for organizing this mdtony, it was fun to see a few familiar faces and some new ones. Too bad happy hour finished so gosh darn early (6pm), also thought it was interesting to be at one of the first FT events I went with most people being US Air fans. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Talk about loyal fans!

I didn't leave work until 8:30 last night http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
I'll try and make it next time though http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

El Boocho Oct 19, 2002 4:07 pm

Sorry I didn't make it. I had a b-day party to attend. If it was over by 6:00 I guess I would have missed everyone anyway. 6:00??? How many people actually made it to the M&S Grill? Hope to make it next time. Too bad it's a whole month away.

Viajero Joven Oct 21, 2002 7:08 am

Naah, the party started at 6:30... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

It was fun to see people from places as near as 19th and G http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif to as far as RDU.... and yeah, there was a cockroach imbalance, but alas, I guess that's to be expected from a DCA gathering.

MRSTARALLIANCE Oct 21, 2002 9:40 am

Hi Guys

I missed finding out where you guys were, sorry MD, I went for a lay down at 4pm for 1 hour and woke up at 3 the next morning, heck must have been that Longhaul!
Anyway sorry I missed it, will be back again soon!

Dave

biggs Oct 21, 2002 11:38 am

Enjoyed meeting the old FTer I knew and the new ones and am glad they let me join for a while as a honorary DC member. I used to live there but make my way there 3-4 times a month. Switching my cockroach status to AA. Maybe we can get Ben "No cockroaches allowed" Baldanza to meet the DC members.

TrojanHorse Oct 26, 2002 6:36 am

What do you guys have planned for Nov & Dec

Not sure yet. I'll let you folks know week of. Oh, crap, it'll be Thanksgiving. Hmmm, I might have to change the plans a little.

dlnewbie Nov 5, 2002 10:37 pm

are there any plans for a get-together in November??

El Boocho Nov 6, 2002 6:51 am

November 21 is the third Thursday. I guess we can take an informal poll (read: post a reply to this thread) as to how many folks can or cannot make that date. Tony, as the unofficial host does this date work for you?

Fine by me. I don't have to be the "host," you know. If anyone has a place they are just dying to go to, I'd be more than happy to let you set it up!

Woooo Hooooo I'm not TDY this month! Count me in!!

dlnewbie Nov 6, 2002 9:10 am

the 21st works good for me... I missed M&S last month .. we can go back there or we can try something else. I don't know where we're all located geographically, but I don't care too much where we decide to do it at

El Boocho Nov 6, 2002 9:41 am

Tony-The last thing I want to do is take away your organizational duties err... honors. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
Just to get things started I would suggest/recommend Ortanique. It is centrally located (metro center), comfortably trendy and has an upstairs lounge that we could take over. Maybe they would even reserve it for us if we have enough interest.

Viajero Joven Nov 6, 2002 11:39 am

I'm in for Nov. 21.....

Someplace downtown is best for me if it's around typical Happy Hour (6:00ish) time.

dlnewbie Nov 7, 2002 7:40 am

Downtown works good for me.. but someone else will have to come up with the location. Since I work in Bethesda, I'm not too well versed on the different bars/restaraunts downtown.

travlr Nov 7, 2002 8:23 am

Looks like I'll miss this one too - although it's ok...I'll be in KAUAI!!!!

mdtony Nov 11, 2002 8:05 am

I don't know if I want to try and reserve a place. Then they'll ask me how many people will be coming and so on and then I'll be pissed if someone says they're coming and they don't. I want to keep it casual, kind of a show up if you feel like it type deal.

If someone wants to take something over and make this a more organized thing, feel free!

Otherwise, I'll pick a place by next Monday and let you know when to be there.

biggs Nov 11, 2002 8:21 am

It looks like I may be in town if it is the 21st.

tazi Nov 11, 2002 10:45 am

Happy Hour is really hard for me to make since I am coming from Columbia but if people will be hanging around later, I can try and make it down there.

I have no problem with pushing it back a little bit later if nooone else does.. Is like 7:30 or so good for you..??

mdtony Nov 11, 2002 1:33 pm

There's no reason folks can't just stay after the happy hour is over. This isn't an airplane and you won't get left behind if you show up late.
