For February's meeting, we need to go to Ben Baldanza's class:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum.../003757-4.html |
Are any of you actually thinking of signing up for the class?
Some details for people who don't click the link: 2 1-evening classes: Modern Board Games on Feb. 4 from 7-10pm-- course GI-719 New Games for 2 Players on Feb. 11. from 7-10pm-- course GI-720 Both classes given at the Washington-Lee School campus site for Arlington Adult Education. Address is 1300 N. Quincy St.-- close to the Orange Line at Ballston. Fee is $50 per person per class, or $38 for Arlington residents. $10-$12 less for seniors. Register at 703-228-7200 or at http://www.arlington.k12.va.us/departments/adulted [This message has been edited by Viajero Joven (edited 12-06-2002).] |
Another idea:
Brochure says they're looking for people to teach "qualified and innovative" instructors with a "unique talent, skill, or idea for a class". Think it would make an impact by teaching a Mileage Run 101 course: How to Be a Cockroach?? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif |

Sounds good to me if its OK with everybody else

Sounds good. I like Rock Bottom. The later starting time is better.
|
For those who are unfamiliar with the Ballston Mall, there is garage parking. I think it costs $1 for the evening after 6 pm.
|
So it looks like it is pretty much settled on
Wednesday, December 18 Rock Bottom - Arlington 4238 Wilson Boulevard (Inside Ballston Common Mall) Arlington, VA 22203 Phone: (703) 516-7688 6:30 or 7:00ish |
Sounds good! I'm in!
|
I'm going to try to make it to this one, too.
I'm not sure if the promotion is still running, but the Ballston Rock Bottom used to offer $1 pints Wednesday afternoons and evenings until 9:00pm. |
I'm going to be in town and will try to pop by for a visit.
Cheers, Jon ------------------ Jon Wright mailto:[email protected][email protected]</A> |
Would like to drop in on one of these gatherings in the new year. I plan to be in DC from Feb 4th through 10th, so not sure if this timing will fit the normal cycle of monthly dates. Will check in early next year to see what is planned for February.
|
Shareholder, how about a Cockroach Board Game class on Feb. 4th? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
jwright, we'll be glad to have you. Ballston is conveniently located on the Metro Orange line. [This message has been edited by Viajero Joven (edited 12-12-2002).] |
I'm pretty sure I can!
|
I'll do my best to be there as well.
|
If I am not flying, I will be there.
|
I expect to make it.
|
Hey guys...... possible change of location.... :-\
I just called Rock Bottom to reserve a spot, and I was told that no reservations are accepted for the bar--- and it will likely be very crowded Wed. night. We can reserve a table in the restaurant, but there's a $7 min. per person, plus 18% gratuity. I asked how long the wait may be for a group of 15-- she said 1 to 2 hours. I called Unos in Ballston, and was able to reserve for 15 people no problem. There is no minimum per person, and they add 17.5% gratuity. So..... I propose that we have the Happy Hour at Unos to ensure we have comfortable guaranteed seeting. Thoughts??? |
I plan on being there. Just try and finaize up the location before Wednesday so we're not split half and half, and you may wanna try to bump this sometime tommorrow so that people who don't read the board everyday look to read and realize that we've changed locations.
|
I'm sorry I cannot make it this time due to schedule conflicts. I need to be in DC but it looks like it will be right before New Years. Rats. And it was going to be at my hangout when I am there.

3:00pm EST the eve of the Happy Hour.
No definitive decision yet. In fact, very little discussion. To avoid missing some people, I move that we stay with Rock Bottom. |
How far apart are Rock Bottom and Unos?
|
How about this ????
We'll meet at Rockbottom as planned and then if things are too busy there we can move over to Unos Viajero: I don't know the distance between the two .. is a walk from one to the other possible.... |
They're directly across the street. Unos is at 4201 Wilson Blvd-- Rock Bottom is 4238 Wilson Blvd.
The reservation for 15 people at 7:00 is under the name FlyerTalk. Nothing's stopping me from keeping the reservation I have at Unos..... guess I'm a little worried about latecomers in case we do migrate. [This message has been edited by Viajero Joven (edited 12-17-2002).] |
Ballston is on the way home now so sure, will try to make it by. It is okay Uno mas, but would prefer Rock Bottom as I have never been there and then go to Unos for dinner after a beer.
Also, there is a Hilton a block away if anyone is still doing CNTU or HHonors year end stay. ;o) VJ, will be downtown in your neighborhood all day so will give you a buzz for coffee or lunch. ------------------ Going back to the bAAsics |
I would like to swing by if it is open to newcomers. If that pesky final segment posts tomorrow then I will make US CP so it would be good to be among people who understand the significance. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
It's a bit unclear re the venue. How would I recognize the group? |

gnaget, you and all others are MORE THAN WELCOME to join us. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif We DC regulars don't bite-- and I hope by tomorrow PM you do have something to celebrate re. your segments.
Ideal-- tomorrow will probably be a working lunch if I want to get out of the office in time for Happy Hour.... How to identify us? I will have a blue and yellow Univ. of Michigan jacket-- you can't miss it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Final decision (since the democratic thing isn't working well, guess I'll take the lead): MEET AT ROCK BOTTOM. If they absolutely cannot accommodate us, the group can decide to migrate to Unos later-- the 7:00 reservation should be good for a short while after-- but since I think more people read the original idea of Rock Bottom, I think this will cause the least confusion. |
Please count me in. This is the first happy hour I'm actually in town for -- and its even in VA.
Looking forward to meeting other FlyerTalk'ers. |
I'll be at Rockbottom at around 5:30 if anyone else cares to arrive early...wearing a yellow BB button0up with the patch in a funny place...
|
How late do people plan on hanging around. I can make it around 8:15-8:30, but don't know whether to bother.
|
I plan on staying until 9 or 9:30, unless I get a better offer http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Hey guys,
Last night was pretty fun-- glad to see that a number of poeple could make it. Again, we had out-of-town representation-- and we always welcome newcomers. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Tentative planning for next month: Wed. Jan. 22 7:00pm Location in DC TBA..... at the request of kokonutz, somewhere with live entertainment. We'll see what we can do. Of course we're always open to dancers in grass skirts, if you're so inclined, koko. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif [This message has been edited by Viajero Joven (edited 12-19-2002).] |

Any event with Viajero Joven aka "The Routemaster" is sure to be both informative and fun. I was just embarassed after talking so bad about CO back in Bethesda, and just a short month later I'm joining the CO ranks..
